Valley View Vaulters

I met Rick and Virginia Hawthorne in 1998 and after watching them help children rise from wheelchairs, fight cancer, conquer A.D.D. and a multitude of other challenges, I felt I had to write their story. They work with these kids and young adults in a program that involves gymnastics on horseback. Their team, Valley View Vaulters, a member of the American Vaulting Association, consists of one third handicapped and two-thirds non-handicapped. Like the Bad New Bears they capture championship after championship. Their story will touch your heart.
