Poetry from WV born author Adie Bishop.

A collection of selected poetry from West Virginia born author Adie Bishop, Search 26 contains poems on themes that have affected everyone at some point in their lives: love, loss, romance, desperation, and above all, hope.

"I feel as though I've been cheated," the young man said. "This father, left me on his strings, left me dangling in the dust."
His voice became quiet and the tension turned to helplessness as his tired hands reached into the air as he spoke, "But when he set me free to the world, I hated him the most."

Professional Reviews

A Good Book
I've never written a review on anything. I don't particularly read poetry mainly because I have a difficult time understanding it. However, I will give my best impression of this collection.

My first idea was to read the collection once through without analyzing too much. What I learned is that poetry cannot just be read like a normal story. Instead it must be digested a bit at a time. Some may disagree but this is what works best for me.

The overall image I got from this collection was of a person waiting in the rain for a loved one to return. While this person waits, waves of fear and regret take grip. However, some peace comes in the forms of remembering the good times and knowing the value of one's self. At other times in the collection, it feels like a dream sequence. Subconscious frustrations with human nature and hoping that the worst fears will not come to pass.

I imagine this collection to have been written over a long period of time. The reason I say this is that it has some very high highs and some very low lows. The common human hopes and fears are sprinkled in between. At some point in most of our lives we can identify with carrying someone else's burden as in 'Stand Again', defeat in 'Fallen', anger and hurt in 'Marionette', self worth in 'My Name Is Beautiful' and the comfort in some sort of guardian angel as in 'JEB'
