Many facets of love…
5 Stars
In the introduction to Lemonade Street, Bernice Angoh describes the myth of fairytale love with a happy every after ending. Love, like all of life has its ups and down; too many people cling to the make-believe form of love. They do not know or ignore the fact that love brings exhilaration, pain, satisfaction, and sadly disenchantment. Prince Charming and his white horse does not come riding to the rescue, to sweep us off our feet and carry us into never-never-land. There is only one unconditional love, the love a parent has for a child, as demonstrated through the love the Father has for His children.
Much of this charming work seems to revolve around a stunning little girl, whose photos add sentiment to the prose. "Now I Lay Me Down" speaks of a love that lasts through eternity. "Follow Me" spoke to me of the delight of holding my lover in my arms and reaching new heights with him. "Secrets" sorrowfully spoke of an adulterous affair. "23rd Psalm Revisited" is a beautiful interpretation of the beloved scripture. This book ends with a few quotes, my favorite is ‘Success is putting your prayers and dreams in action, with no excuses and no room for quitting,’ Bernice Angoh.
I must be honest; poetry is not my favorite form of literature. Too many times the meaning is so obscure that only the author truly knows the deep meaning of the verse, not so in Lemonade Street by Bernice Angoh. The prose is simple, original, and easy to understand, the emotions are genuine and heartfelt.
Lemonade Street is a beautiful interpretation and celebration of the many facets of love. The love a parent has for a child, the love of a man and a woman, and the love that God has for us. It would be hard to chose a favorite, so many of these touched my soul. Some of these brought tears and some laughter ("Your Fly Is Open").
Well done MS Angoh! I highly recommend Lemonade Street to fans of poetry and to women everywhere. There is a message in this book that will touch the hearts of women.

PROFESSIONAL PRAISES FOR LEMONADE STREET:
Review For Lemonade Street By Bernice Angoh
WOW!I really don't know where to begin..."Lemonade Street" written by Bernice Angoh is truly a masterpiece. As an artist paints a mural Ms.Angoh paints beautiful words into poetry. They are touching, enlightening, humorous, beautiful, moving and quite powerful. I really like Bernice Angoh's style in writing in Lemonade Street. My favorite poems were most definitely "Gorgeous One"...It's about heartbreak and I liked her little antidote that she put at the end of her poem...she writes...."Just think of it this way every time someone breaks your heart they shift the pieces more apart, that way your heart expands and can contain the next big love to come".Another poem I really liked alot is "All I Want". Bernice just seems to know exactly what to say. I think there is something for everyone here in this book. I felt my eyes moisten several times while reading Bernice's poems. They are from the heart and quite beautiful. This book is definitely a must have and if I could give it 10 stars I would!!
Bernice much success to you in the future. You have a wonderful career ahead of you!!

REVIEW FOR LEMONADE STREET:
YOUR FLY IS OPEN by BERNICE ANGOH
'I’ve had my doubts, you’ve been acting aloof, you must really think I am a fool, to let you walk all over me, my bags are all packed, don’t wait up for me and for your information, your fly is open.’
“A 5*****Collection! I stayed up late to finish this book. I couldn't put it down. ‘Lemonade Street’ is an excellent collection of Poetry. It seems that the author, Bernice Angoh, has had the talent of arranging poems since early in her teens. She has a clear purpose, great understanding and a beautiful touch of elegance in her delivery. There were many poems I liked and I admire the depth and maturity the collection has about life and living. Among the poems are some hints of humor, like the one above. I will recommend this Poetry collection to everyone. It is not just for poetry buffs but also for the everyday reader who can enjoy some of life’s pleasures; poetry. I treasured the time I spent reading this book. With that, I’d like to leave you with one of the author’s life quotes:
‘There is a time for sowing, a time for growing and eventually a time for harvest…No matter how much you want to rush things, you can never defeat the Universal laws of nature. So, sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride.’ ”
-Julia Johnson, Author of Jewels Treasured By Her Family
REVIEW FOR LEMONADE STREET:
Bernice Angoh is a brilliant author who has quite a remarkable way with words. Her poetry is layered with her love experiences. Ranging from her love lost, her unrequited love and the most passionate love declarations anyone could hope to receive. Reading her poetry I get the feeling that I've yet to share the love that she's experienced. Yet her gift of expressing her inner most feelings leaves me feeling that somehow I have. The life experiences shared in her poetry aren't limited to romantic love but also compassion for her loved ones. Anyone who's willing to partake of her poetry can learn from the wisdom that she's acquired in her life.
This lady's poetry has been a pleasant surprise. Her wisdom is evident in poems such as "Complete Me" and "Secret of Life". With other examples such as "Gorgeous One", "For Daddy", "Unrequited Love" and "To Love or Not to Love" speak for all that are courageous enough to love. And still yet her flare, her style, her poetic genius shine through in other personal favorites "Stop the World" and "You and I".
Ms. Angoh I anxiously await your first collection of poetry,
"Lemonade Street". May you have great success in all your endeavors and please don't stop sharing your love.

| Bernice Angoh has the ability to reach through words and give a boost to others. Everything she writes is full of love--the reader cannot help but feel it, and keeps coming back for more. Some of her works are short--some are long--some rhyme--some stop abruptly. She says what needs to be said in the poem, and then stops. Each poem is like its own egg kingdom...crack it open, find the gold, and be nourished... I thoroughly enjoy reading her wonders. --Charlie |

totally awesome poem Bernice...I wish I could paint with words as good as you. The one poem that I wrote that filled my heart and my eyes with tears is Star So Bright. But my work cannot hold a candle to yours. You are truly GIFTED.
