ISBN-10:  wakeupamerica Type:

Copyright:  March 10, 2002

A mesasage to America to urge all to change their thinking and take back our God given rights.

"Oooooh saay can you see-e-e by the dawns early light, wha a t soo proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming." Every time I hear these words and the music that lifts them, I get goose bumps. Our National Anthem. A song every American recognizes and are moved by when it is played. We stand at attention and cover our hearts and gaze into the air with thoughts of those who have given their life in battles around this world so we at home in America would remain free, Patriotism at its greatest moment.

We are a nation built on biblical principles that have allowed the great freedoms we have today. We are a nation given from a promise to Abraham. We boast we are a Christian nation. A nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Now, if we know these things, as a Christian nation, why do we wane morally? Why do we not put God first in all things? Why have we allowed God to be pulled from our educational institutions and our government bodies? Why have we put God last in our personal lives? It is time to Wake up America! Wake up and take back the country we love so much. Take it out of the hands of those who do not care for her. The ones that only care about their own selfish greed and power. We are a Christian nation and we are Christians that love our America and God. God expects us to take care of Her, protect Her, and keep Her free from the immorality and the sickness that plagues our rights as Christians to live as God would have us live. The question is,how do we accomplish such an undertaking? The answer is,as a united force we can cause great things to happen with God involved. And the way to get God involved is to show some action on our part that this is what we want. If we don't,He won't! WAKE UP AMERICA!

God expects an action from us. If we won't unite and do His work in an honest and integral way we will suffer the consequence for our choice. If we continue to listen to the lies being preached across the pulpits in America by those who are in the "religion business" and are deceiving thousands for the sake of money and power, we will suffer the consequence for our choice. Find out who these men are and stop them. How do you do that ? you ask. You can't do it alone. But, you can know the answer by opening your Bible and reading what God has to say about those who would cause His children harm. (More on this later)

How did the condition of our country get to where it is today? In order to understand that, it is best to go to another time, in another place, and look at the events of that time and place. First, a short version of those events and later in more detail.God the creator made an ideal world and put people in it to dress and keep it and to give them the choice of having a relationship with Him or not. Those first people chose to listen to lies and that choice made a mess of things. Then humanity started over again. Because of a man named Noah who warned the people that they needed to have a relationship with God because there was going to be a flood and offered them a way to be saved from it. Their choice reaped the consequence of death.Noah and his family were survivors and had the same choice, to have a relationship with God or not. Within a few generations, things were in a mess again. It doesn't seem that man and choice were working. People went their own way and their relationship with God was no longer first in their life.

God has remained intent on building a relationship with the people of the world. He established a contract type covenant agreement with a man named Abraham. Abraham promised to love God, obey God, and to teach his family to do the same. God promised Abraham that his descendants would be as the sands of the seashore. God also promised that through those descendants would come a Messiah, a man who would give his own life on behalf of all humanity. That man was God in the human form. We know this man as Jesus Christ. Jesus lived and died and lived again. When He left our world, He left the message that having a relationship with God requires faith, rather than perfection, on our part. He left behind a group of people (His disciples) who were to keep this message alive. He left behind a promise that He would come again, and the world wouldn't always be a broken and disappointing place. That one day this world would be cleaned up. He left behind a Comforter ( the Holy Spirit) as a help for His people. We are waiting for that time, in faith, trying to keep things as tidy as we can.

What now America? Oh great land of ours, given by promise. Won't we unite together and warn Her, keep Her from self-destruction? Have a relationship with the Creator God?

Chapter 2

God Always Warns His Children; A single bomb devastates a city, and the world is ushered into the nuclear age. A split atom, power and force such as we have never seen.At a launch site, rockets roar and a payload is thrust into space, Discoveries dreamed of for centuries are ours as we begin to explore the edge of the universe.

Earthquakes, volcano's, tidal waves, hurricanes, and tornadoes unleash unstoppable force. And we can only avoid them and pick up the pieces.Power, strength, and mightwe stand in awe at the natural and man-made display. But these forces cannot touch the power of omnipotent God. Creator of galaxies, atoms, and natural laws, the great and sovereign Lord rules all there is and ever will be. How silly it is for us to live without Him; how foolish to run and hide from Him; how ridiculous to disobey Him. But we do. Since the garden of Eden, man has sought independence from His control, as though we were gods and could control our destiny. And He has allowed our rebellion. But soon the day of the Lord will come. The prophet Joel spoke of this day, and it is recorded in his book. On this day God will judge all unrighteousness and disobedience all accounts will be settled and the crooked made straight.Joel spoke forthrightly and forcefully in this short and powerful book. His message is one of foreboding and warning, but it is also filled with hope. Joel states that our Creator God, the omnipotent judge, is also merciful, and He wants to bless all who will trust Him.Take the time to read the book of Joel, catch his vision of the power and might of God and His ultimate judgment of sin. Choose to follow, obey, and worship God alone as your sovereign Lord. Like the people of Judah who had become prosperous and complacent. Taking God for granted, they had turned to self-centeredness, idolatry, and sin. Joel warned them that this life-style would without doubt bring down God's judgment.

Wake up America, to the same warning! We are a different time, a different place, but God is the same today as He was in that time and will be the same tomorrow.Joel 2:12, 13.."Therefore also now, saith the Lord. Turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning. And rend your heart and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God, for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth of the evil."

SIN runs rampant in our society, daily headlines and overflowing prisons bear dramatic witness to that fact. With child abuse, pornography, serial killings, terrorism, anarchy, and ruthless dictatorships the world is overflowing with violence, hatred, and corruption. Reading, hearing, and perhaps experiencing these tragedies, we begin to understand the necessity for God's judgment. We may even find ourselves wishing for vengeance by any means upon the violent perpetrators. Surely they are beyond redemption! But suppose in the midst of those thoughts, God told you to take the gospel to the worst of these offenders how would you react? Read the account of Jonah. Then ask yourself what you would do.There are laws in the world, boundaries and rules for living established by God. But men and women regularly flaunt these regulations, hiding their infractions or overpowering others, declaring that "might makes right." God calls this sin, willful disobedience, rebellion against His control, or apathy. And at times, it seems as though the violators succeed, no whistles blow, no fouls are called, and individual despots rule. The truth is however, that ultimately justice will be served in the world. God will settle all accounts.Decide to live under His guidance and within His rules, commands, and guidelines for life.

Wake up America!

Chapter 3

God Is In Control;  An earthquake shakes the foundation of our security; a tornado blows away a lifetime of memories; an assassin's bullet changes national history; a drunk driver claims an innocent victim; a divorce shatters a home. International and personal tragedies make our world seem a fearful place, overflowing with evil and seemingly out of control. And the litany of bombings, coups, murders, and natural disasters could cause us to think that God is absent. "Where is God?" we cry, engulfed by sorrow and despair.

Twenty-five centuries ago, A man named Daniel could have despaired. He and thousands of his countrymen were deported to a foreign land after Judah was conquered. Daniel found himself facing an egocentric despot and surrounded by idolaters. Instead of giving in or giving up, this courageous young man held fast to his faith in God. He knew that despite the circumstances, God was sovereign and was working out his plan for nations and individuals. The story of Daniel centers around this profound truth the sovereignty of God. God is sovereign. He was in control then, and he has been moving in history, controlling the destinies of people and nations ever since. And he is here now!

Wake up America!

Despite news reports or personal stress, we can be confident that God is in control. Watch God work and find your security in his sovereignty!Overwhelming grief, prolonged distress, incessant abuse, continual persecutions, and imminent punishment breed hopelessness and despair. "If only," we cry, as we search for rescue. With just a glimmer of hope, we would take courage and carry on, and endure until the end.Hope is the silver shaft of sun breaking through the storm-darkened sky, words of comfort in the intensive care unit, a letter from across the sea, the first spring bird perched on a snow covered twig, and the finish line in sight. It is a rainbow, a song, a loving touch. Hope is knowing God and resting in his love. Be encouraged by the words of hope our God reigns, and he will rescue his own. Decide America, to be a part of that faithful remnant of souls who humbly worship the living Lord.

Pressures, demands, expectations, and tasks push in from all sides and assault our schedules. Do this! Be there! Finish that! Call them! It seems as though everyone wants something from us, family, employer, school, church, clubs. Soon there is little left to give, as we run out of energy and time. We find ourselves rushing through life, attending to the necessary, the immediate, and the urgent. Too often, the important is left in the dust. Our problem is not the volume of demands or lack of scheduling skills, but values what is truly important to us.Our values are reflected in how we use our resources, time, money, strength, and talent. Often our actions belie our words. We say God is number one, but then we relegate him to a lesser number on our "to do" list.Wake up America, render your priorities in accordance with God's will. What has God told you to do? Put all aside and obey him. We as a nation of God's people need to get serious. It may be a different time, but God is in control. Choose to have a relationship with him and reap the rewards.
