Jock Stewart is an old-style investigative reporter working for a small-town newspaper named the Star-Gazer. He's at odds with his boss and the mayor about everything, but he manages to deflect both of them with sarcasm and insubordination.
When the mayor's horse, Sea of Fire, is stolen, Jock thinks the entire matter is suspicious, including the fact that the mayor won't talk about it. Quite possibly, Jock's boss, publisher Marcus Cash, is tangled up with the theft; or worse yet, with the murder of Bambi Hill.
Jock antagonizes virtually everyone involved, or uninvolved, and that includes his on-again/off-again girl friend Monique. En route to a humorous conclusion, the book pokes fun at mayors, government, bosses, and the coming age of digital journalism.
