Susan felt torn about the feelings she was still harboring for her college sweetheart and the new woman she met on the mountain one cold snowy night. Her life had taken a sudden turn when out of the blue she received a call from her ex after many years asking her to be the maid of honor at her wedding. As all her feelings and emotions came rushing back it was all she could do to stay calm, she reluctantly said yes when all she wanted to do was scream no.

It was late one evening on a mountain in Colorado when her life was changed and not even her past could hurt her now. Her car sliding off the road seemed like destiny when it brought her into the arms of her rescuer. It was now the future that she was more afraid of. The only thing that felt real and right was how wonderful she felt being with this woman wrapped in her arms and making passionate love to her at every opportunity.

From a houseboat in Key West to a home in the mountains, would the love they had for one another be strong enough to keep them together through all that was about to happen? Things seemed to be going good, maybe too good, until the phone rang--

About an hour or more had passed when she thought she heard a sound. She couldn't make out if it was the wind teasing her into a sense of false hope or if it was actually a sound that would bring someone to her rescue. As time ticked by slowly she realized that the sound was growing louder. She knew it was some sort of machine... and it seemed to be heading her way. She heaved a sigh of relief at the thought of not having to stay in the tomb-like car, but then her thoughts began to wonder about what sort of person was coming to her aid. About forty-five minutes later the sound stopped right outside the car. Holding her breath, she heard the snow crunching under someone's feet. Susan about jumped out of her skin when the knock on the window came. Susan tried the door handle but the door wouldn't budge now. It had only been about two hours since she had gotten back in the car but the door was frozen tight and she could not open it. She couldn't see out the frosted window at all. "Hello in there, are you all right?" "I can't open the door, It is froze solid," she called out to whoever was on the other side of the door, Susan was shocked to hear a woman's voice. "I'll be right back, just hold tight for one minute. Don't go away," she said in a light tone. "Funny," Susan said as she could hear the footsteps walk away then back again a few moments later. "I'm back," the voice called. "When I say push... push on the door as hard as you can, got it?" "Yeah I got it," Susan said. She could hear the metal binding as the woman with the sexy voice was prying on the door with something. "Ok, push," the voice called. With that Susan pushed with all she had, gasping in surprise as the door flew open and she came face to face with a woman in a black ski mask. "Hi, I'm Stephanie and you are one lucky woman. If I had not heard your car come over the mountain when I was out getting in my wood, you would have been stuck out here for days." "Then I guess I should thank you for coming to my rescue. Hello, I'm Susan. How did you know I crashed?" "It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out," Stephanie said. "You're in a little car on an icy mountain road, first I hear your engine and then just minutes more I don't. I knew you could not have gotten far in that amount of time. My Tractor could barely make it and it is made for this kind of weather, so I put two and two together. I get to find a pretty damsel in distress and I am now the hero," she added with a laugh. "Now come on before you stand here and freeze to death, we can talk at the house," with that she walked away leaving Susan standing there with her mouth open. Susan hurried to catch up to her and was trying to stay close behind her newfound hero but was having a hard time keeping up. As she got to the Tractor, Stephanie was all ready aboard. Susan tried to climb up and slipped right back off the steps, landing on her butt. "Are you OK?" Stephanie called over the noise of the tractor. "Yes," Susan said, it was her pride that was hurt more so than her butt. "Ok, lets try this again," She almost lost her footing again when she felt Stephanie's hand grab her arm, helping her the rest of the way up. It was a long slow ride back half way up the mountain. Susan was frozen solid when they got to the cabin. "What ever possessed you to go out in a blizzard like this and in a light weight coat not to mention that small ass car you have...       Excerpt

Tonya L. Chatelain presented "Around We Go" to us last year as her first
[explicit] lesbian novel. [Explicit] indeed! It had me blushing. But [explicit] falls
short of the depth of the character experiences in AWG; their travels,
travails, sense of adventure, their generosity, their lust AND their need to
connect and build meaningful lives with another human being.

Tiffany struggles for years not accepting her true identity. She even
carries on a sleep together relationship with her college roommate, Susan,
because that was just the thing to do. Boy! I was sure naive in college.

And maybe Tiffany's roommate was naive, too, because she thought something
more fundamental than college fun was going on. Tiffany went on to date a
man for years while Susan licked her wounds.

This college-thing-do-phase represented something deeper that Tiffany
finally admitted to herself, her mother and her fiance. That she loves
women, and more precisely Susan.

What inspired me about the characters was their growth in facing difficult
challenges. Face it. It's not easy telling you're mother you're a lesbian.
And gay men and women risk their lives for simply holding hands as is
portrayed in a grizzly scene in Australia which leaves Tiffany paralyzed and
her partner dead. The final moments of her partner's life are beautifully
written and I almost felt as if I were perishing with her.

Can love overcome years, disability and the miles. Tiffany's mom comes

through, travelling thousands of miles to bring her daughter home. But can
Tiffany repair her relationship with Susan. I think we have to read Around
We Go Again to find that out.

I enjoyed this book and recommend it.

Susan is HOT, HOT, HOT!  I want to find one just like her.  I am so glad that she put Tiffany in her place.  What nerve asking her to come stand up at her wedding after what she did.  Susan has a beautiful heart and she deserves someone like Stephanie who treats her good. I cannot wait to read more about my wonderful Susan in book two. I loved this book and recommend it highly my girlfriend is reading it now maybe she will pick up a few hints from then wink wink. buy it, read it, love it...

YOUR NUMBER ONE FAN!!!!!! Your life is NOT complete until you read this book!
From the southern state of Texas, to the beautiful shores of keywest, Florida, to the moutainous regions of Colorado, to Australia the land down under.....this story never seems to sit still!!! Each twist and turn with the characters kept me completely on my toes and I was literally unable to put the book down. I am a voracious reader, but I have never read any other book that has kept me so drawn in....I never want the story to end, but go on and on so that I can know all the details in the lives of Stephanie, Susan, Tiffany, Cindi, and even the stable hand Johnnie.......I love the idea of the lesbian ranch ..........Can I VISIT???? ;o) I found myself loving and hating and feeling joy and sadness......and feeling angry and so at peace........right along with the characters....Ms. Chatelain has a little sense of orneriness as well for leaving me HANGING.......aching with longing to know more and more and to find out what will transpire in the next book. I feel the need to say thank you to the author....I've never experienced such an emotional read and she truly has a gift of writing and creating. She has created characters that are so vivid and that I have come to care deeply about. I would recommend this book whole heartedly!!!

Heart Wrenching!! A nail biting, emotional roller coaster ride of indescribable proportion!! From the moment I started reading I found myself lost to the story. My heart went out to tiffany as she experienced such disappointment and disgust from her first kiss with a boy. Her fear and confusion over her sexuality when she learned that others were talking about her and her new college roommate Brittany. Gawddd, my stomach had butterflies at the mere thought of already having those confusing feelings then finding out your roommate was a lesbian. I felt so attuned with her as she began to warm up to Brittany and grew to desire them getting together. I so wanted to see Tiffany experience that which she had been missing and was sooo frustrated that she and Brittany didn't make faster strides toward that......I do not wish to give away too much of the story, but the next few events that occurred in the lives of Tiffany, Brittany, and Brittany's girlfriend Susan made me weep with bittersweet tears then grow so angry at the unfairness of life for the three. I wanted to call the author and say HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO THEM????? *deep sigh* As soon as I started to get over my initial shock and anger, the story took another turn that was totally unexpected. I found my loyalties to one character transferring to another that I felt was more deserving. Then I waffled back and forth because I wanted everybody to get what they wanted and to be happy. ****laughs because she has found herself so emotionally invested in the lives of those in the story.....**** Tiffany, Brittany, Susan, Stephanie, Cindi........they are so very much alive in my heart and mind.....I grew angry with Tiffany and fell in love with Susan and felt myself cheering whole heartedly for Stephanie....and oh my gawd, sweet, annoying little Cindi, like a persistent little kitten capturing your heart with her sheer determination to get what she wants......I am sitting here with my heart pounding and my tummy fluttering with all of my questions of what will happen next in all of their lives....This author has a way of weaving intrinsic detail and emotion into the lives of her much so that the idea of having to wait for the next book is driving me to distraction. I NEED to know what happens next.........has anyone ever thought of producing a "lesbian soap opera" because this book could be the basis for the ulitimate in lesbian television. Tonya, if you are listening........please, please, pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeee hurry with book two.......I simply HAVE to know what happens next!!!!!!!!!!

I am an avid reader so I make this review with a harden heart towards books as I have read so many bad ones. I must admit that this book moved me in so many new way I was very pleasantly surprised and relieved to finally find a book that I could go Dang that was an excellent book... I felt as if I was watching a movie or even real life, as it was so bright and vivid in my mind as I read I could see the characters and feel their feelings and I had a lot of the same emotions that they were going through as I read along feeling at times I was intruding into their world a bit by reading. I read this book all in one setting. I await patiently her second novel "Around We Go Again" due out in November 2002. OK so maybe not so patiently as I have read book one at least three times all ready. (well its a great book). Ms. Chatelain has touched something inside of me that I did not until this book think written words could touch. a magnificent read and must if your contemplating to buy or not to buy.

Finally a book that relates to emotions some of us have only begon to experience. A strong story line that kept me hanging on for more. While it kept me through the range of emotions, from being hurt, sad, happy and frustrated, I could never just put the book down. I had to know what was going to happen next and to whom. Once I had decided on the person I was most rooting for the Author decided to take me in a whole new direction, time and again. This is simply one of those books you don't want to put down. I do hope the Author comes out with book 2 soon so all my fears may be put to rest or one would could only hope. A recommended buy even if this topic is not your cup of tea it will still keep you glued to it none the less.

When can we make this into a lesbian television series??? The characters live in my mind and my thoughts turn to them often. I laughed and cried....I even found myself cursing the author for the many unexpected twists and turns. A book that can come alive to this extent is unforgettable and well worth one's time to read. Please get the second book out quickly so I can know what happens with Stephanie and Susan, and omg poor Tiffany.....
