EMOTIONAL SOLDIER was born and raised in the city of Newark, New Jersey. He never thought about writing, but now because of terrible times, some have said that lovers have unknowingly produced in him some beautiful lines. He never cared about this thing called poetry but guess it has saved him from total destruction, or better yet has saved others. Unfortunately life pushed him into a corner, fortunately, though, the Lord was waiting for him there. Now purpose lives, it has been born. Now he’s able to be quiet, listen, he can hear it, wisdom. All His beautiful sadness, intelligent madness, is now inspired by God, fueled by lovers, and motivated by life. The Poetic Picasso is a compilation of poetry that meticulously explores the universal issues of love and rejection as well as the intricacies of human relationships. The theme of love is prevalent throughout the entire collection; however, this work is also varied and distinctive, incorporating contrasting styles and forms of poetry and discussing different manifestations and types of love.

On my way to work this morning
I stopped at McDonald’s.
I held the door open
for an elderly lady,
Her hair full of Grey.

I paused momentarily
on a memory of yesterday
before pushing forward
into today.

I stared at this person
as I do with most all
of the elderly
and ...

All the years
I used to see on your face
I now see in theirs.

A joyful sorrow
as I remember how death
just is not fair.

We probably cry
for different reasons.

I cry
because you’ve gone
from this place.
You probably cry
because I’m still here.

I’m pretty sure your cries
would make for the better case.

But as I see those
who are older,
wiser and full of years
I cry,

Because I
can see
your face in theirs

As I walk over
the charred remains
of my soul
kicking through the ash
probing for anything unburned
that can be salvaged.

The wind blows
ever so soft and silent
lifting particles of dust

flying away
right before my eyes.
Things I can never again
call to mind.

For I am now just a shell of a man
with no core of being,
all of it dug out
like the inside of a pumpkin.

A carved out
and permanent
expression of sadness.

Is there anything that can fill
the inside of my life again
and cut me into a new fashion?

Because you have branded me
with eternal loneliness
and left me

I was tied hand and foot.
Everyone gathered around for a look.

They cast their ballots
from their judgmental thrones.
Also awaiting to cast at me
their judgmental stones.

My sin has been opened before all,
well presented.
All eyes and fingers pointed at me
calling for my death sentence.

Stone him,
let it be known before all men.
Stone him, stone him to death
for he has sinned.

I was in need of a righteous man
and a righteous word to save me.
A Holy Man did appear
and that is what He gave me.

He said to the crowd
“Walk away and leave him alone;
Let him that has no sin
cast the first stone”

I watched in amazement
one by one my accusers walked away.
This Man released me of my sin
and forgivingly pardoned me that day.

He freed me with kindness, mercy and love.
An excellent wisdom shone through
for I beheld His Holy point of view;

Stone me?

Stone You.
