"Mourning Sickness" is an anthology of poems and memoirs by women who lost babies through miscarriage or stillbirth.

Most people ignore the fact of miscarriage. They don't know what to say or if they try, they minimize the sadness of it.  They say things like "Try again" or "It's for the best because your baby was probably deformed."  Doctors do the same thing.

"Mourning Sickness" is a series of poems and essays written by women who had miscarriages or stillborn babies. It's extraordinarily sad and touching to read these little pieces.  I wrote one for this collection about when we lost our first child, little Eric Christian. His death was particularly devastating because we had undergone fertility treatments and tried to have a baby for more than ten years.

I was happy to include my story in "Mourning Sickness,"  because I believe this collection will help women who are going through this experience and are hurting big-time.  I only wish "Mourning Sickness" had been available when it happened to me.
