Excerpt
Across the bar, Detective Iago de Oro watched the green eyed beauty spin her magic on the under-experienced college set. When his regular snitch told him to watch the green passing through the doors of Fool’s Gold, he surely didn’t think the man was giving justice to the bartender’s eyes. He also hoped, for the snitch’s sake, that he wasn’t being fed a line. Being set up wasn’t too far out of his mind either, given the name of the bar and his own moniker.
Mind pondering the possibilities, his eyes continued to measure and mold the woman before him. She had an innate grace, watching her serve drinks was like holding a front row seat at the ballet. She dipped then twirled; side stepped, raised en pointe and flowed along the counter with the ease of a butterfly pirouetting in the breeze.
Wasn’t much to look at, if you started with the face, but what real man just looked at a face? Her pretty little nose had been broken leaving her looking as if she was caught mid-wrinkle, cute. He liked it the imperfection gave her character. Dusky skin proudly staked her Italian heritage, but those eyes, luminous and earthy shards of emerald under the thickest sooty lashes, screamed fairy princess. She’s either out of your league, his gut argued, or so deep in shit that her pretty little eyes will never pay her way clean.
He hoped she was clean.
Bending at the waist, she lifted a case of beer from under the counter and began quickly filling the wall behind the counter. The after image of her heart shaped, firmly rounded ass was burned into his mind. Average height, panning down he smiled at the female vanity he spotted on her feet. A well-turned ankle disappeared into ugly brown leather that goosed her height a good four inches. Platform heels never looked good, but on her slim, well-filled frame they made his blood burn. She had the body of a girl fresh out of college, but her eyes, in those fleeting moments where her gaze caught his, held age and experience that made her shapely outline of curves and planes a lie.
Made no matter, Iago shook his head clear and hunkered over his dark ale watching the comings and goings at the bar. Someone, somewhere in the crowd of fresh young faces was selling stolen guns; it was up to him to follow the money home.

Jade Savini is bound and determined to make her bar, Fools Gold, a clean fun watering hole. She has run out the drug dealers, the prostitutes and is beginning to attract the younger college crowd from the local university. Imagine her dismay when she sees a shifty eyed blond Adonis wearing a gun which is illegal. She quietly throws him out but he still holds court on a corner table and she still gets the feeling that he is up to no good. Yet she is more concerned about the possessive passion filled look a rough looking man is giving her as he sits at the bar.
Detective Iago de Oro feels like he is watching a ballet. Jade is one hot package and he wishes he could unwrap her. Unfortunately he is there undercover to find out if the rumors are true that guns are moving through her bar either with or without her knowledge. He just wishes he could investigate her heart shaped ass instead of her business.
Jade is a great heroine. She is self-motivated, smart, doesn’t take any crap, and knows when she wants something. She wants Iago in a very bad way and makes sure he knows that she is not afraid of her passion or desires. Iago is the very opposite of the amoral Iago in Shakespeare’s Othello. Claiming not to be the smartest cop, he knows he only made detective by working his ass off and completing relentless police work. He is upset that he is willing to throw that all away for one taste of Jade. Thank god he decides to take that bite. I was twitching, running for my toys and attacking my husband as I read these sex scenes. I will never look at a stepladder in the same way or wear demin jeans without thinking about the sizzling sex in this story! I enjoyed the verbal dialog in the story that zips back and forth not only between Jade and Iago but many of the other secondary characters. They fit in well with the storyline. The pacing of the book was great until the end. It was a tad rushed which left me dissatisfied. I would have liked a tad more time to get to make the mental jumps I needed to figure out the story at the end. Overall this is a great suspense erotic romance that I enjoyed immensely. Ms. Glisan has gone on my auto-buy list.

New York City, New York - Present Day
Former stripper Jade Savini is now the owner of Fool’s Gold, a bar. When a handsome giant sits down at the bar Jade notices him immediately and feels a little sizzle of attraction. He’s just the kind of guy she needs to act as a bouncer to keep the riffraff out. Jade approaches the man and feels an immediate lust for him. She can tell the feeling is completely reciprocated. What’s a girl to do when her hormones shoot into overdrive and she is coming off a long dry spell?
Detective Iago de Oro is on the job, and not as a bouncer. Iago is in Fool’s Gold trying to find out who is selling illegal weapons on the street. His attraction to the ultra sexy bartender Jade Savini nearly makes him forget his purpose. When she sashays up to him with a proposition, his eyes nearly cross with lust – until he hears the offer. Iago has to make a decision – should he confess that he’s a cop and get her to cooperate in his investigation and not take advantage of the invitation in her eyes? Or, maybe, Iago can have his cake and eat it too.
Mysterious criminal activities, a cast of bar patrons who are varied and some hot sex are the premise of FOOL’S GOLD. …the heat between Iago and Jade is palpable and intense. From the first meeting of their eyes across the bar to their first sexual encounter the author does a good job of building the sexual tension between the two… I think the author shows definite potential and would like to see what she does with a longer format.
