Excerpt
"The distant police sirens frightened me. It was as if I was in a scene out of a movie and it wasn't real life. This was the first taste of dangerous violence I'd experienced, not only was I in the middle of it, I felt I had caused it."

Up and coming writer,
the book of In times of violence is one of the best books I have read this year. It is a story of a young woman who escapes from her dull village life to pastures new. Looking or happiness and adventure she moves to a big city in the hope she finds what was missing from her old life this she does after a short time and instantly falls in love with a gang member who is liked and loved by all. when she gets her man love is not as easy as she first thought as she realises not only has she got to fight to keep her man but also fight to prove herself to other gang members, and that is only the begining of what she has to go through. this book keeps you reading it from start to finish there are many twists and turns which make you wonder how this book is going to end. all I can say is buy this book you wont be disappointed by it its an excellent book one worthy to win a book award.
amazing
i think when i first read this they wrongly put it in the graphic novels section ei comic section. so i was a bit hesitant to read it but i'd gotten the name off the internet as a good read so i read it. its amazing. i totally loved the rawness of it. the ending was sad in my opinion though. i think the first time i read it i actually cried!
Love it
I'm a 14 year old girl and I loved this book. I read a lot of books and this one is so real. The main character is really cool and believable. And the book doesn't sound like it's written to talk down to teenagers or make them look silly and stupid. I was really skeptical at first, but my aunt said she had heard it was good for someone my age to read, and I'm so glad I did.
It's one of those books you can't put down and you're really sad when it comes to an end. I'll remember this book for a long time. It'll always remind me of this time of my life, and I really love that! You HAVE to read this!
