Love - Exotic or Toxic is a collection of pros and poetry written in Carney's signature way. His unique use of verse draws the reader into his writings and makes one reflect on current and past lovers. This book speaks of every relationship known to man. From first loves to last loves, Carney tells the tale. This story tells of love from vast perspectives ranging from loving self to loving others, from domestic violence to contemplations of suicide. Carney says, "As we all continue to live, we will all continue to love. As the song said, 'Ain t nothing like the real thang.' When you get introduced to love and meet her for the first time, be careful. When love gives you drama and nights of tears, appreciate her. And when love is gone, don t be afraid to embrace her again."

Excerpt

Evening Curse
I see her but she doesn ’ t see me
In her tub trying to wash away her sins
His fingerprints are not only on her outside
but also on her inside
His touch has penetrated through the epidermis
to her soul
She realizes the force of her scrubbing
And she stops
As an engine with no fuel, she tires
She hangs her head and belts out a bloodcurdling
screech
She cries as a river
Her tub fills with tears
She gathers her stilettos, fishnet stockings,
and her mini
And returns to the beat
She returns to the beat
For this is her
Evening Curse
