This book covers the aspects of its title in a way that is beyond most spiritual views. It goes into the distinction between the three words in its title:
What is Ascension?

There have been very few Earth beings who have actually ascended upon physical death in the true sense of the meaning of the word. True ascension is what occurred to one of the earliest Earth people to have actually had the process of ascension occur to him and had this process witnessed by other people. This was the man called Jesus, The Christ. Jesus was a prophet for that time in mankind's history. He was also a teacher and attempted to teach many lessons to the people of that time. His primary lessons were that of unconditional LOVE, and BECOMING ONE WITH GOD or being of God-consciousness. He tried to get across to people to realize that your spirit-soul consciousness (all that is you) lives eternally. There were, of course, many other lessons.
What it means to transcend is that at the moment of physical death, the physical body ceases to function. There is no longer what they call “life” within the physical body. The heart stops. The bodily functions stop. When this happens, and a person has been on a spiritual path of enlightenment, at the moment of their death, their Silver Cord [that connects the spirit-soul consciousness to the body] is severed.
Meditation is an important part of attaining enlightenment. Simply put, first meditate and go within the self and know the self. Find the self, all that is you. Once this connection is made, meditate and go outside the self and look at those things which are directly affecting your everyday life. In both cases, if there is something you do not like, change it. You have the power to make that change.
