Fiction

In this Southern Gothic Dad's a prominent banker in a small town in Kentucky. It's the 50's and Bobbie Jo gets pregnant. I tell the story of how the family reacts to the pregnancy and how Bobbie Jo, in turn, handled the people around her.

Southern Gothic is an interesting genre in that it's unique to American writings - or so I'm told.

What I do know is Southern families like to "keep up appearances" and not let anyone outside the family know what really goes on.

However, I've found that once befriended, many of them have a great desire to share the dark secrets - finding the telling of the tales to be very cathartic.

Excerpt

"I don't what you're talking about. When did you start thinking about a divorce?"
All this shouting was going on at the dinner table with Leah and Misty sitting there. Right then Leah interrupted and said, "What's a divorce?"
BJ said to her oldest daughter, "That's when the daddy leaves the house and me and my little girls get to sit and play all day and daddy has to pay all the bills. Doesn't that sound like fun?"
The two girls shouted, "Yeah! We can play all day and not have to go to school! Yeah! Let's get a divorce!"

I really like the cover. I would like a little more excerpt. Happy writing. Linda
