It is done, let it be written let it be done. The horror storm arrived and welcome to the darker landscape that is the mind of a collective. The book's been redesigned

This is the collection that many were waiting for on here,  Terry actually put the match under me to put this out there.  The stories on AuthorsDen will stay on AuthorsDen, but I will say the stories INSECT and House of Spiders are in the same book here.  I am putting this out sooner than expected.  I won't have the ISBN until it is released with Booksurge.  This is the second edition.  This is marked as fiction but will have two short stories that are a work of nonfiction.  Two epic poems on there --  The Seasons Of Black September in its complete form, along with Shadow of Dys.   The cover was designed by John Welborn of Empyrean Sky and myself.   You looking for Gothic Horror without the trends,  look no further than this book.
Some of the short stories on this one came from my archive on AuthorsDen including three nonfiction titles -- the booksurge release has Haunted Thoughts,  Accident Revisited,  and The Cabbie Homicide published on it.  The lulu version will be illustrated,  Among Shadows in the lulu version book is presented like the version on diary-x.   There are a few Cthulhu Mythos stories written in this one and each short story in there were composed over a matter of four years.  The drawing with the new short story on Authors Den titled, Accidental Ghosts,  greets you before the short story INSECT.  This would be from the lulu version.
The lulu version is 208 pages on a 6X9 format.  The final story on then was lulu version is titled I (the version you see with CreateSpace.com with additional photos is the Lulu.com version in the TOC.)  This will have the short story that was almost in Reality Check: An Anthology of Horror titled House of Spiders. This book has a mix between nightmare type horror to the Cthulhu Mythos. Being I've been known to pen in the Mythos.  This is fully illustrated, by the author.  The stories that are true in there are Accident Revisited and Haunted Thoughts.  Haunted Thoughts was one of the entries in the book that dates back to the spring of 2001.  You can catch the House of Spiders sequel on Lulu.com -- it's cowritten with Barbara Shenouda.  The version that is more avalable the Lulu.com version is on CreateSpace.com and the Cabbie Homicide was cut out of the latter editions because it was too controversial.

Excerpt

Among Shadows can be read on AuthorsDen.com and FictionPress.com. This originally appeared on Diary-X and was a reader favorite on the journal when it was around. I posted this here sometime in 2002 and I kept it up on the site ever since. It's a vampire/Cthulhu Mythos hybrid in the vein of H.P. Lovecraft's dream cycle stories.

Professional Reviews
A writer to make Cthulhu proud....

"Collectives is a marvelous set of macabre tales fairly reminiscent of the styling of H.P. Lovecraft. Mr. Pacione adds his own unique technique of writing weaving each story together in a blend of horror and reality that is one hundred percent original. From the grim but true to life tale, Places of the Cold to the imaginative prose of LAKE FOSSIL each story takes the reader to new and darker dreamscapes.
In a world where gore and violence have become the tool of horror it's refreshing to read a book where the terror is as close to the reader as the pounding of his own heartbeat.
I would recommend this collection to any fan of the Mythos for Mr. Pacione is an author who would make Cthulhu proud."
William Haynes, The Horror Trader

From Late Author Barbara Malenky
"Nick Pacione's imagination twists and weaves as incredible stories unfold to scare the living daylights out of his fans." --- Barbara Malenky, Author Human Oddities (R.I.P.)

Keeping Traditional Horror Alive by Tablia Creech
I found this book to be very captivating. Not only are you reading a fine collection of dark macabre horror stories, you are also reading into the author's mind. I found some of the stories in this book disturbing, and in my opinion that is horror at it's very best. I can easily compare this book to a mixture of H.P. Lovecraft and Edgar Allan Poe, although I can see other influences in this collection such as Blackwood and Benchley. Poe typically used madness as a theme in his stories.
I can see this aspect ring through clear in this book. Twisted, dark, and macabre can easily describe the stories in these pages. Not only do you get stories in this book, you also get dark epic poetry. "Shadow of Dys" is one of the darkest modern epics I have read. Then there is another epic, "The Seasons of Black September" which was obviously influenced by 9/11. Since I write dark epic poetry, I can honestly say this is one of the best modern dark epics I've read. When reading it you feel like it was of an earlier era, which makes good literature in my opinion. Two of my favorite stories in this collection are: "House of Spiders" and "Darkness From The Skies."
"House of Spiders" has two sequels, part three is in the works at this moment. My suggestion to you -- if you like reading about nightmares that scare the hell out of you, and traditional horror written with a dark twisted pen, you're going to love this book. This is the way horror should be written. Lake Fossil also has two sequels and a fourth one is planned. Two stories in this book are inspired from actual events, "Accident Revisited" and "Haunted Thoughts".

Reader Reviews for "Collectives In A Forsaken Landscape"

Reviewed by Robert Montesino 3/2/2005
I had the pleasure to read some but not all of the pieces in this collection. "House of Spiders" "Insect" & Lake Fossil in addition, the poems "Seasons of Black September" & Shadow of DYS, all demostrate Nick's versatility & incredible imagination. Nick's style of writing is uniquely his own. He is one of the most passionate controversial horror writers on the scene today ... and no one can take this away from him! Bottom line some people hate him & others love him, all for their own reasons & agendas. As for me Mr. Pacione has always been a gentleman & someone I've enjoyed reading and will continue to read! That's all that really matters! Collectives In A Forsaken Landscape is one Collection, I hope to add to my bookshelf soon!

SPECULATIVE FICTION CENTRE

Nick did me the distinct honor of sending me a personalized, signed copy of this fine collection of dark fiction.

My personal favorites include INSECT, Library of BONES, The Seasons of Black September, and the haunting 'Darkness From The Skies'. Then of course, 'House of Spiders' is this author's signature tale.

I sincerely hope Nickolaus sees fit to do a follow-up collection, as it will be high on my list of horror/suspense fiction 'must reads'.

This is fiction to be read in the dark of night when the winds howl a foreboding concerto..

This is fiction to be read on nights when subsequent nightmares will later be welcomed with an open mind and arms to match...

The contents will challenge and frighten...what more can a fan of mythos ask for?

I'm proud to add it to my personal collection...
