Fiction

After a long technical career, Leda Swann volunteers for a job in Hawaii and soon finds herself seduced by the beauty of Oahu, the Hawaiian people, and the food. But dark forces lurk in the world of Government contracting and she must make some difficult choices.

Leda Swann has had a long career and finds herself being ground down by her well-worn work routine.  She jumps at the chance to be transferred to Oahu.  She falls easily into life in Hawaii, balancing her work as a Government contractor by exploring the island.  She and her cohorts work hard and their project does well, but dark forces lurk.  Leda finally must make a decision that could end her stay in paradise.

Excerpt

Leda Swann stowed her tray table and brought her seat to its full and upright position. The plane banked steeply on the final approach to the Honolulu airport. From her window, Leda could see the turquoise water below, streaked with shades of dark blue and dazzling green. This was her first trip to Hawaii. The flight had been pleasant. Ukelele music wafted though the cabin, and the flight attendants wore Hawaiian shirts. No business trip was fun, but Leda hoped that this one would, at least, be interesting. She resolved to embark on this assignment as if it were an adventure.
