Life, legends, history, and even fairy tales come alive through the magic of storytelling. It is my belief that people have a natural-born inclination to tell stories; that there is a bit of poetry inside each of us, and one of the ways we come to better understand ourselves and the world around us is through stories. However, not all storytellers are gifted writers and not all writers, gifted or otherwise are storytellers. Yet, when delivered in someone's own words, whether narrated or written, memories can become priceless commodities that bring joy, tears, and laughter to our world.

The finest tale I ever heard was not told me in words. I didn't hear it from any wise elder or listen to it on the news. You see, it isn't that kind of a story, nor is it a tale devised of imagination and make-believe. There are no lips to mouth this tale, no voice to sound its plot. This unique tale of adventure, this narrative of love, compassion, and valor, is a story about determination, success, and failure. It does not disclose itself to the ear, for it is a silent rendition authored by memory. An unspoken and unwritten memoir, this life experience is for the eye to see, the mind to know, and the heart to hold.
