Fortress America is a Christian/adventure novel based on Christian persecution in the world of tomorrow. Lots of action, spiritual warfare, and high adventure.

He lay there for a moment, his breath coming in ragged gasps. Gathering his strength, he staggered to his feet with a fuzzy sensation in his brain. In the cell next to his, he heard the guard's laugh and his wife scream. He shook himself and hurled himself against the locked door, wanting desperately to fend off her attackers. His efforts proved futile and only gave the guards cause to laugh all the more.
He sagged against the door sobbing, his strength spent. He heard no further sounds from his wife. The only thing he could hear was the panting of the Court of the World guards as they repeatedly raped his bride of ten years. Oh God, he prayed silently, please let her blank it out or take her home to be with You. Please don't let her suffer like this.

Understanding flooded over Daniel and he realized with whom he dealt. "I will never renounce Christ. You and the rest of Satan's spawn will lose this war."
Patrick backhanded him across the mouth, and Daniel tasted blood. The man drew back his fist again before stepping away from him, seemingly surprised the man in buckskins didn't show fear.
There was a long silence. Finally one of the troopers asked, "What shall we do with him, colonel?"
Patrick/Wolfen pondered the question. Suddenly he smiled broadly and replied with a laugh. "Do? What shall we do? Why, crucify him, of course."

Testimonial from William Thomas

A gripping story of betrayal and courage, cowardice and heroism, FORTRESS AMERICA is a masterful work by a new and upcoming Christian writer, and inspires a feeling of pride in our origins and beliefs as a Christian Nation. It is also provocative in the sense that it stirs you up on purpose, that many of the personal rights granted to us by the Bill of Rights could become endangered in the name of “keeping our nation safe”.

I recommend this book to everyone. Mr. Burch illustrates his biblical knowledge throughout the story and you will find it difficult to lay it down once you start reading.

The world economy has collapsed. International security forces are patrolling American streets. Christians are going underground or captured for death or "reconditioning" if they refuse to recant their faith.

Christian survivalist Daniel Holiman is thought dead by his family, until they discover God has been preparing them all for a very important mission of rescue. But can they rescue fellow Christians from the "camps" and get them to sanctuary before the Lord of Darkness destroys them all?

There are any number of end times novels, some better than others. This one takes an approach that is scripturally sound, yet also different from most others in the traditional market place. This is an adventure story with both heroic action and subtle romance, very graphic and not for the weak of stomach. It is also compelling, with an intriguing set of characters that has the reader routing them on, while wondering if, after all, they will fail.

This book is a cross between Peretti's natural/spiritual world approach and the more usual End-times story. And it works. Well worth the read. (But then I'd admit prejudice as I helped shepherd this one along.)
