Jeanette sat on the edge of the single bed next to her boyfriend, Tom, in his room, holding the thin, white, pen-shaped pregnancy test in her hand. The small bedroom had dark blue walls and a pine wardrobe. A matching pine chest of drawers stood opposite the wardrobe, and Jeanette and Tom had their backs to the lace-curtained window, which let in the bright afternoon sun. They both peered at the test with bated breath, waiting for its result. They did not have to wait long.
'Oh my God, my parents are going to kill me!' Jeanette stared wide-eyed and panicky at Tom as a definite blue line appeared across the pregnancy window of the test...
