THE EXECUTION OF JUSTICE
Mike Walsh is a good cop, a devoted husband, and a good friend to have. However, his life is about to be turned upside-down when he is promoted from uniformed patrol division to the elite Robbery & Homicide Division of the Indianapolis Police Department. The transition is made easier by old friend and mentor, Detective Sergeant Jack Lovell. Mike soon finds he is actually quite good at detective work. His wife, however, sees a different side, due to the increased dangers Mike now faces, and the long hours he is forced to put in on the job. The marriage begins to suffer. Can Mike hold it all together? Only time will tell.
Tragedy strikes the detectives, and Mike's partner-friend-mentor is killed in a violent 2.5 hours shoot-out with armed-robbery and murder suspects, barricaded in a home, in the pre-dawn hours of a frigid December morning.
His wife leaves him. He is guilt-ridden over his partner's murder, his failed marriage. He turns to booze. Suicide rumbles through his alcohol-soaked brain. Will he survive?
Soon, he will make a decision that will change his life forever.
This is an excellent, fast paced crime thriller, packed with intrigue and tragedy. Michael Phelps really brings the action to life in his portrayal of police life on the streets a Indianapolis. Based on a true story, The Execution of Justice is a first-rate crime novel that really sets pulses racing. You won't want to put it down.
