Excerpt
Samantha entered the house and hung up her coat. She walked to the picture window and looked out. She noticed the car on the road had disappeared. Taking a deep breath, she sat on a
comfortable chair and felt her body relax.

“Would you like a drink?”

“Yes, that would be great.”

Kerry disappeared into the kitchen, humming a happy tune. She made them both a strong beverage and placed them on the coffee table. She then went over to the window and pulled the cord
to close the curtains. While the drapes slowly moved across the window, she let out a cry of surprise.

“What is it?”

Kerry stood back from the window. “I thought I saw movement in the bushes. I’m sure it was a rabbit or something.”

Samantha tried to remain calm. “I’ll find us a movie to watch.” She got up and looked through the video library. As she scanned the titles, the phone rang.

“I’ll get it!” Kerry said.

Samantha heard her answer the phone in the adjoining room.

“Who is this? Hello…hello…”

She felt a chill run up and down her spine. Samantha had a feeling the stalker was outside the door. She came up to her friend and noticed the shocked look on her face. “Who was on the phone?”

Kerry placed the receiver in its cradle. “We should call the police. I think there’s a man outside the door.” She dialed the emergency number and relayed her message to the secretary.
“Tell them to hurry!”

“What should we do now?”

Kerry stood undecided. “The guy on the other line said we were doomed.”

The Stalker by Shannon Rouchelle tells the story of a love triangle between Samantha Tyler, Ken Strong and Bryce Peterson. It is full of suspense as Samantha is tormented by someone who is following her, leaving her messages on the phone and breaking into her apartment. Her relationship with Ken is a strange one since his dead wife resembled Samantha and he can’t quite get over her. Bryce is her neighbor across the hall that is always after her to go out with him and seems to be available at just the right time to comfort her. Which of these two men is the stalker or is it someone else entirely? This is a short read at forty-two pages.

The storyline did keep me reading to find out who the culprit was and the suspense was able to carry the story towards a satisfying ending.

Samantha has a new man in her life, Ken who just lost his wife five months ago. Ken seems to be a good guy, and is very romantic and sweet. But one thing that bothered me if how it kept coming up how much Samatha looked like his decesed wife. If I was Samantha, that would bother me. How do you know if he is with you because of how much you look like his wife, or if he is with you because he is ready to move on.

Samantha also has a somewhat odd neighbor. Bryce is friendly, and well to do, but they haven't hit it off romantically. Bryce is able to get close to Samantha when the stalking starts, but I felt it was bad timing on his part.

The mystery in The Stalker was pretty good. I didn't know who the stalker was until close to the end.

Samantha Tyler is a fashion designer with a pathetic dating life. She can’t seem to meet Mr. Right . . . then she makes eye contact with Ken Strong at a nightclub. Ken, an accountant, sweeps her off her feet, romances her for the past month but refuses to sleep with her. When they do finally seal the deal he calls out his dead wife’s name. Then he later calls a halt to their relationship. Is it because she looks so eerily like his deceased wife, Barbara, or is it something else?

Bryce Peterson is Samantha’s neighbor that she has known for over a year. He has always been there for her but they just haven’t been able to connect romantically. Finally he is ready to make his move but she has Ken in her life . . . or does she? Bryce is there to help Samantha pick up the pieces after the disastrous end to her most recent date with Ken when he has asked for some space.

After dating losers for quite a while to now having two men in her life, what is a girl to do? Can she help Ken get over the loss of his wife? Does she give him up and turn to the man that has always been there for her? And why is there a strange man following her around, leaving messages on her machine, and breaking into her apartment leaving behind disturbing gifts for her?

The Stalker kept you guessing as to who was stalking Samantha Tyler. Ken, Bryce, and even Ken’s driver seemed a bit odd and as though they are hiding something. However, the mystery was good and I wasn’t sure of the identity of the stalker until close to the end of the story.

Reviewer: Claudia Rhyes Review:

Samantha Tyler is unlucky in love. When she meets Ken Strong she finds him charming even though he claims she looks just like his dead wife. There isn’t something right with Ken and soon they break things off. This is when Samantha falls into the arms of her neighbor, Bryce Peterson. However, Samantha soon finds her world turned upside down. A stalker is threatening to not only end her life but also everyone she loves. Not knowing whom she can trust, Samantha must uncover the suspect and save herself.

The plot and idea were intriguing. I do feel this story would have been a lot better if the author had made it longer. There is just too much stuff happening in a short amount of time.

The story started to pick up when the “stalker” left presents in Samantha’s home.

At the end I kind of assumed who the stalker was, but this story definitely had suspense and some hot sex scenes. If the story had been longer and less rushed I think I would have liked it more.
