Don't let the title fool you. Anger isn't always negative. Anger against injustice and inequality can inspire people to do great things. If channeled properly. That's what this chapbook is about: not allowing anger to consume our lives, but using it to transform ourselves and our surroundings in a positive manner.
Excerpt
Long Hot Summer
See the summer’s humid smoke
Drift off the bodies
Of Southern ghosts.
Long dead, they traveled
To no netherworld,
But reside in the Dixie heat.
Sleep soundly if you know
The song of the weary;
Remain vigilant
If you do not.
The sticky sweat
Of the sweet peach
Will coagulate
Into a thick syrup
During these long, hot
Days.
