This is a documentary in progress about a muscovy duck who arrived on a back slough in SE Minnesota and his survival.

This is a documentary-in-progress; the story of a muscovy duck who arrived on a back slough in SE Minnesota.

An odd looking duck arrived in a back slough and this is his unfolding story of survival, in a place most ducks wouldn't even think of habitating for more than an afternoon.

It's unknown where this tailess, flight-featherless duck came from. We found him  paddling around in sloughs and ponds full of giant alligator snapping turtles, reptiles as big as one of those new electric cars, and a dozen or more eagles, coyotes, and hunters.

This is his story, and I hope his will have a "lucky duck" ending.

Excerpt

...There in the last seconds of daylight, he stared back at me on the edge of the marsh. "What kind of bird is it?" my husband asked.
"I don't know. I've never seen a bird like this, it looks like a chicken crossed with a duck. I can't see it's feet, they are under the water."

The duck moved, flapping it's short wings, and then dipped it's beak into the slough and drank. I shot a few more pictures and moved on to the eagle nests ahead. I didn't expect to see him the next day.

I tossed him some bread from my daughters left over cheeseburger. He looked half starved, but he went back into the marsh with a full crop.

I know I would love this book. I do realize are a nature lover. My deceased Thomas loved eagles, and they were his collection here in the house of statues of them. He felt free and flying. You are new to me and glad I pulled up your site.
