A coming of age novel set in Northumberland, England in the late 1950's. A story of sisters, and how their choices differ, but both present challenges in an imperfect world.

Jaycee Fox

Belle and Emily Hastie's lives were so innocent, their world was magical and limitless . . . and then they grew up.

Set in the Northern hills of England in the late 1950's, this coming of age novel is about two sisters and the different choices that they make.  Belle's only desire is to leave her confining village and become a doctor, Emily's is seemingly just the opposite -- to stay in Wethervale, get married and raise a family.

This is a tale of love and betrayal, of regret and redemption, and ultimately a loss of innocence. Through this journey, the sisters discover a deeper meaning of love and joy; a road of sacrifice, compromise, struggle and hope.

The happy photo of Belle and her twin, taken that summer before it all began, only pronounced the current life changes as dire. Then there was her sister's wedding photo . . . the menace. She shoved it back in the drawer. Somehow she'd get the good days back.
. . . Of course Belle's loyal sister would never go against what God had joined together, but if only she'd realize that God would never condone a pact between an angel and a devil. Belle had to stop -- she was a mad woman. But the mere thought of this beast and her sister . . .
