There's Something Phony

Beware that you do not forget the Lord your God by not keeping His commandments, His judgments, and His statues which I command you today, lest-when you have eaten and are full, and have built beautiful houses and dwell in them; and when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and your gold are multiplied, and all that you have is multiplied; when your heart is lifted up, and you forget the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage (Deuteronomy 8:11-14).

When things are going good in our life, it is so easy to forget the person that made it all possible. Beware, if we are not careful, we might just push God right out of our life. Who or what is it that we are replacing our Lord and Savior with? Remember He declared that we shall not have any other Gods before Him (Exodus20:3).Do we dare cheat on Him as long as things are going good in our life, and in turn, run back to Him when things are not going as good. There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother. There is a generation that is pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness. There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! And their eyelids are lifted up. (Proverbs 30:11-13) I believe that the generation that the book of proverbs is speaking of is none other than the generation that we are witnessing today. When an unsaved person walks into our churches, what is it that he or she sees? When we are dismissed from our worship service, what is it that they see now? Are we the same spiritual, fire baptized creatures that they saw while we were getting our praise and worship on, or do we all of a sudden transform back to what we were all along, hypocrites! It is my honor and privilege to invite you the reader into this book filled with truths and challenges for people that proclaim to have a relationship with Christ. As we embark upon this journey, we will come to realize that the walk that we have been professing to walk is a long way from being the walk that He intends for us to walk. So sit back, put on your seat belt, and hold on because we are about to take a ride to conviction that’s sure to change the way that we have been living our lives for Christ!

Excerpt

When we accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior, what we were telling God was, I denounce myself, and accept your son as Lord over my life. Jesus now has my permission to lead, guide, and order my steps as He see fit. I no longer desire to fulfill the lust of the flesh. I realize that without Him I will always walk in darkness, but with Him, He is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Now if you were not thinking this way when you accepted Christ into your life then maybe that’s why you are still in the same place today that you were in before you accepted Him. There is no way that you can grow in the Lord and still keep the same friends that you had before you got saved. Sometimes you even have to let some family members go that do not respect the decision that you made to change your life. The bible tells us to come out from among them!
