In this book, the author takes an in-depth look at the history of child abuse passed on from generation to generation She includes poems on society's unforgiving attitudes to rape victims, mentally handicapped and those who just don't fit in with Society's Norms.
Excerpt
Charge: Murder One Like corrosive acid, truth eats away at my metallic shell safety-lies. Faster, ever faster walls disintegrate, killing the me who I thought was.
In the wake of my murdered alibi, ghosts fly open-mouthed, screaming truths I don't want
to he, rekindling memories buried in skeletal graves of what-should-have-beens. The jagged razor-sharp visions rip my thoughts to shreds, tearing apart rest-filled
nights,
leaving jigsaw clues to reality in cryptic nightmare cinemascope.

Barbara Quanbeck, Word Wrangler Publishing
Psychosis rips off the rose-colored glasses and presents a reality which is both unnerving and evocative. Brenda Roberts has sliced life into thin cuts of perspective that reveal the depth and breadth of the wounded soul. Shredded is the myth of present-day racial and sexual equality between the sexes and in its place we find unsettling revelations of the real world.
Her words penetrate consciousness and prick at the inconsistencies of life. One cannot ignore her stabs at the indignities and injustices of the world, but will find as well the heart of a poet that has withstood the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune and come to rest with a genuine love for humanity. As a nurse, the author has helped many. As a poet, she has helped us all.

Dear Bre,
I ordered your book from Synergy and once I began "reading" it, I couldn't stop. I can't begin to tell you how this collection has touched me. By the time I was on page 10, I was in tears. You have had some very difficult and life changing experiences, but through it all, you've emerged as a strong, talented, and inspiring woman. I am in awe.
I loved every selection in this collection, Bre, but as I went back to reread your work, I realize that "Just Like PopEye Says" is the one poem that has had the greatest impact on me. In this work, you've so beautifully addressed so many of the thoughts and feelings that I have embraced for years. It is a true work of art.
Of course, I had to have your book read to me by my computer. I am now anxiously waiting for my husband Skip to get home from work, so that he may read this aloud to me. I know that your words, read to me in a human voice, are going to be even more moving.... and he's going to love it!
