This Book was inspired by all the employers in my lifetime that either added to my knowledge and skills sets or sent me home in tears. As you read through this, I hope that one can find themselves in my story and be able to take away from it, some life changing, soul stirring , jaw dropping, thought provoking realizations that life is what you make it, not what it makes you!
My goal was to create a book that would be a guide for women in the workplace or about to enter it. By sharing my journey and telling you about the people you will meet, I hope to shorten your learning curve and the path to success. Through this book, I hope to help other women achieve their true potential, and to be the person that God created them to be. You were not just another baby that was born, you were and are something very special and it’s time you found out just who you were meant to be.
As you join me on this Journey, remember that there are no failures in life, just successes. Failures are just baby steps that we all must take to become something more.
For those women with the Entrepreneurial spirit, I hope that The Last Box will provide you with the courage to take that Leap of Faith into exiting the corporate world and into your world.
Entrepreneurialism is not for everyone. For those women who intend to stay in the corporate world, I hope that this book will be a constant resource for you to keep you headed in the right direction and away from the wrong people.

In order to understand The Last Box, we must start with the First Box.  The Box symbolizes the container that is filled with all your personal belongings that you proudly displayed on “Your Desk” in “Your Office” at work.  The family photos, the dried up rose from an arrangement that your sweetheart sent you on  your first day at your new job, the silly pens with fuzzy tops, awards and insignificant marketing goodies that look cute but are really rather useless.

They looked good on your desk and gave you a sense of comfort, made your surroundings familiar, created conversations from your co-workers and clients or just brought a smile to your face at the end of a long day or the start of what is to be a very long day. But somehow, all these treasures take on a new look when you have to neatly arrange them in a box to take to the next office due to a promotion; the next job, because you found a better one or………………..You Got Fired!

Most of these boxes had a sense of accomplishment and pride attached to them as you moved on to bigger and better things.  But the one you tearfully placed your treasures in as quickly as possible, as you were about to be escorted out the door (in a non-humiliating way of course), is the box that we would most want to forget.  The Box is ugly, it’s painful, it’s embarrassing and, at the moment, it’s a sign of failure.  Yes, that Big Red Sign that says “I Failed” might as well have been plastered on every side of that box for the entire world to see.
