Fiction

In this prequel to Imago Book One: Tales from the West, with the specter of war looming before them, the greatest battle of their time will determine the fate of all in Imago. But in the end, it will be the undercurrent of betrayal and deceit of a forbidden love that tears apart the greatest nation of this realm.

With an enduring friendship bound by an oath of blood, Kal-lel Wingfield and Dahlon Treeborn's youthful adventures prepare them for their greatest challenge when they must face Beyilzon, a divine entity bent on the annihilation of the human race and all those who dare stand by their side.

Pressed by time and circumstances, the newly crowned Elf King must unite the free peoples of Imago and rally the aid of the four great Wizards in what is sure to be the last, desperate stand against evil.

The promise of the tools to defeat the Dark Lord begins the race to secure the Stone of Salvation from the bowels of the earth and to forge the sword to be imbued with the power to slay evil. But more difficult than these two tasks, Kal-lel must convince a mortal king and his young squire they are the chosen ones to wield these weapons against Beyilzon.

With the specter of war looming before them, the greatest battle of their time will determine the fate of all in Imago. But in the end, it will be the undercurrent of betrayal and deceit of a forbidden love that tears apart the greatest nation of this realm.

It was almost two years since the last Imago book but Imago Prophecy was well worth the wait. It was another very entertaining achievement in writing from L.T. Suzuki.
This time the story goes way back to the early days of Kal-lel Wingfield and Dahlon Treeborn. The evil Beyilzon makes for real excitement as he resurfaces in Prophecy; or does he resurface in Tales of the West? Anyway, it's another rollicking good read as the armies of Imago do battle with the Dark Lord.
I found Prophecy was also about the relationship between Kal-lel and Dahlon. Here the author brilliantly shows how even the best friendships can be fragile when an object of desire comes between them. The book seems to convey a message that we shouldn't take friendship for granted; anything could come along to put an end to them no matter how strong.
Prophecy was another great read in the Imago series. As the book was a bit of a cliffhanger, I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next to Dahlon Treeborn.

Readers of fantasy fiction will enjoy the most recent release involving the land of Imago: that marvelous adventure land created out of the author's imagination and inhabited by immortals such as elves, fairies, dragons, wizards, supernatural sisters who are the Watchers of the past, present and future, and their brother, the Dark Lord Beyilzon. Humankind are also very much a part of this world, where they suffer from all the foibles of the human race in addition to being mortal.
Against this backdrop, Imago Prophecy is a rip-roaring adventure story in every sense of the word. The union of elves and men, forged to meet the threat of the Dark Lord, appears unequal to the task of overcoming his unearthly powers of sorcery. However, with the help of the Watchers, the mantle of saving Imago from his threat falls on two humans: King Brannon of Carcross and Emery Langham, a teenager whose principal qualifications are that he has volunteered for this dangerous task and that he is innocent of the military arts. The riveting adventures of these two and the fate that follows as they face Beyilzon in his den leads to a surprise ending.
A sub-plot involves the ill-fated romance of Dahlon Treeborn, an elf military commander and the most beautiful maiden in elfdom: Katril Brookstone. Despite their romance that carries on over several decades, immortality turns out to be no guarantee of a happy ending.
I recommend this book not only to all readers of fantasy fiction, but also to those who appreciate a truly good adventure story.

I tried to wait until my vacation to indulge in the latest book, but failed.
My review? Intriguing, right from the very first paragraph! Even though I knew where the story needed to go, the journey itself was entertaining...
