A Treasured Gift

Unlike a good novel which is enjoyed but then stored on a shelf, the owner
of a quality book of poetry revisits it over a lifetime to savor time and again
the author’s sharing of unique expressions of observations and passions.

A novel is momentary.
A book of poetry is forever.

I had the pleasure of reading "Heart & Soul" while Richard was completing a last edit. Just as the title states, Richard has put his heart and soul into the writing of this book, lending a biographical touch to many of his poems and short stories. They relate to the human consciousness of man's deep passions from within the heart and soul. There is a sense of family throughout the book, as depicted by photographs of Richard’s family members, which makes "Heart and Soul" not only an enjoyable read but one you won't easily forget.

Politics, Poetry and Love in the Obama Age by Lonnie Hicks

This is a large volume of poetry (560 pps) which seeks to capture the spirit and issues ordinary individuals (myself included) struggle with here at the on-set of the Obama Age.
