Sergeant Mark Garrison, introduced in author Bill Burgett's last novel, Project 314, reappears in The Cruise to wrap up one loose end--the whereabouts of the ZIP disks containing records of the late Bob Archer's clandestine genetic research. He is not the only one interested in the disks that contain the recipe for producing the miracle drug of the twenty-first century. The late Bob Archer's widow, Judy, faces her own life-and-death struggle in The Cruise, and finds strength in Garrison that surprises even him. Bribes, murder, and mayhem ensue as the plot enfolds.

The Cruise will transport the reader from Chicago, Illinois, to the White Mountains of New Hampshire, and to the Caribbean. During the journey, the reader will experience the potholes and smooth places of life in what is certain to be a challenging adventure. This is a book for anyone who likes suspense, romance, human interest, and a moral challenge. One thing is certain--once the journey begins there will be no stopping or turning back.      Excerpt
Frozen feelings. That was why Mark didn't laugh at jokes when everyone else was laughing or cry at funerals when everyone else was crying. It explained so much. Mark thought that he was different, maybe a little crazy, but the counselor helped him understand that he had been conditioned to suppress his feelings. It wasn't unusual for someone who had grown up in a troubled family, especially as an only child.

Now there was hope. He was experiencing a meltdown with Judy. He was feeling something. Was it love? He couldn't wait to be with her, to look at her, to touch her, to smell her. At the same time, he was afraid to yield to the new feelings. What if she didn't feel the same way? What if something happened to her?

The Cruise has it all!
The Cruise has it all: A precious love story, ongoing suspense, and occasional belly laughs. Science and morality collide in this page-turner.
Patricia Nelson, author of Cool Spring

Author has captured my attention.
Author, Dr. Bill Burgett, captured my attention in this his second suspense novel. I was captivated by the psychological and neurological content woven into the story. The story culminates in a cruise that flushes out the unconscious emotional and philosophic issues.
Richard W. Powell, MD, Psychiatrist and Internist
