Excerpt from "Let Her Dream"
"Soul Mate"
The ivory pieces
Take their places,
Standing proudly and tall on
The white or black spaces
On the board before us
Ready to engage
As we wage
A duel of
Wits and strategy,
Where only one
Will emerge as the master.
Gazing across the distance,
I carefully ponder
My first move
While waiting for you
To take yours.
Slowly sliding forward,
Advancing to its new position
Is the carved figure
Of your pawn
Then following suit
I move my pawn too.
Interesting move
Surely you must know
I'm not a pawn
When it comes to this game --
It's not really a game,
It's real and
I play for keeps.
Play goes on
Each claiming pieces
No one winning or losing
In the match because
Our battle is so evenly matched
Neither has an advantage and
There's really no conflict between us,
So why do we bother
To even fight?
Often I wonder
If we be fools
For how could we
Be so blind
Not to see
What we looked for,
The very thing we wanted
Has always been
Right there in
Front of us,
Right there before
Our very eyes?
Then how can we resist
What is happening between us,
What is it that keeps
Holding us back
From being all
That we were
Meant to be?
Perhaps we're too shy or
We fear rejection
Then again maybe
Fate or destiny
Has other plans for us?
Why should we
Settle for regret?
Why should we deny the
Way we feel?
Carefully analyzing the pieces we
Have each other right where
We want, where you are
Mine and I am yours
Check
Soul Mate.

Her Heart Seeps Through Her Quill
Reviewed by: Debashish Haar, AD poet
Let her dream is Marie Wadsworth’s first anthology of poetry. It is not a mere poetry collection, it is a compendium of her poetic imprints--showing her gradual development into a versatile poet. Marie is a journalist by profession, besides being an award winning journalist, she loves adventure, fun, romance and sci-fi drama. She has shown her multi-faceted personality in her poems, some of which are unique tributes.
Anthology is a chronicled evidence of emergence of a modern writer-poet; it is a collection of word paintings with a touch of transcendental styling on a largely post-modern canvas. Besides having touch of Hawthorne, some of her poems have dash of Robert Frost’s completeness.
Poet Wadsworth has a unique voice, a touch of the geography she hails from—New Mexico. I would recommend every poetry enthusiast to read this book for its uniqueness and originality, where Marie has poured in her heart without dabbling with structure of poetry much she allowed her poems to sculpt their unique forms themselves.
I am quoting few lines from her poem “Let her dream”—
“…Words he said
Words I'll never forgot
Echoing in my heart and mind saying:
Don't laugh at her
Just because she's a dreamer
There's nothing wrong with Dreams
The world needs more dreams
The world needs dreamers like her
So leave her alone and
Let Her Dream.”
Shows her natural approach to life and poetry without clumsy dabbling with form or structure.
