Kurt stood staring at who we were sure was Stacy. He smiled a wicked smile, which spread from ear to ear and his eyes seemed to become darker with the thought of his deadly intent. Since we had already gone unnoticed, Kelly and I pushed our way into a corner and behind several large potted palm trees hoping not to draw any attention to ourselves.
The storm raged, the lights flickered off and on, slower this time and more frequent, and within the flickering I saw Kurt raise a gun, point it at Stacy and saw, rather than heard, a shot from the gun. The timing of the clap of thunder was perfect, no one would've been able to hear the shot over such noise, but it didn't last very long and in the end, all anyone heard was the remnants of Stacy's scream. And in that same instance, the lights finally gave way and went out.
"Ohhhh, I hate the dark," Kelly whimpered softly.
"I know, me too, but what really scares me is that I've never seen someone actually get killed," I whispered back.
"Don't move, he could still be hanging around, maybe he saw us; maybe he's working his way over here to finish us off, too," Kelly moaned, while gripping my arm.
"Chill, okay, you're making me more nervous than I already am. Let's wait for a flash of lightning to see if he's anywhere around."
