The hair rose on the back of Nathan’s neck and woke him just in time for him to roll right, avoiding Hyde’s first blow. Static sizzled to his left. Nathan vaulted off the right side of the bed. His heart pounded hard in his chest, his breathing was rapid, and in the dark room he could see Hyde as an outline, lit by his electrical energy. When Hyde rushed him, Nathan was able to break for the bedroom door. He got all the way down the stairs before Hyde got to the top of the landing. Hyde jumped off the top stair, floated through the air, and landed directly in front of Nathan.
