We are bombarded with commercials on the television, radio, and newspapers that offer promises. For example, "Get 30% off the retail price if you purchase before midnight tonight. Hurry while supplies last." These promises all have conditions attached to them. They also have expiration dates and they serve as a mechanism to advertise the products or services being offered. By comparison God's promises also have conditions attached to them. However, His promises have no expiration date. The Bible says in Psalms 90:2: Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. He is an everlasting God and His promises do not expire. There is no concept of a limited time offer in God.
When we as Christians claim the promises of Christ in our lives, we delight Him and He springs into action to fulfill them. We also provide an opportunity for Him to demonstrate His divine and awesome power in our lives. Fulfilling His promises in our lives allows God to advertise His goodness and mercy to others.
