It was late at night. Darrin’s room was big with a majestic fireplace. He’d lit candles and placed them on the mantle. He was a sucker for candles. They’d burnt down to low stubs and the fireplace was lit, but the ambers were slowly dying. Darrin sat in front of the fireplace naked; Kristina was dressed in a silk nightie, her head in his lap. Half-full wine glasses of soda water were next to them on the floor. Since Kristina couldn’t drink due to her pregnancy, Darrin tried not to drink around her.

He ran his hand lightly up and down her arm and felt as if he was on fire as she lightly ran her fingertips over his chest.

“Darrin?”

“Um?”

“Today was perfect. Being here with you,” said Kristina. “I want you to know that.”

“You’re beautiful, baby,” said Darrin.

“So are you, Querido.”

“Guys aren’t beautiful, Tina. They’re handsome,” he said seriously.

“Learn to take a compliment, Banning,” she retorted.

“Whatever.” Darrin gently lifted her up and then stood up himself. He went to his overnight bag, retrieved a package, and joined her, sitting down next to her.

“It’s your gift. From me and Katie. Happy Birthday, Kristina.”

“Thank you, Darrin,” said Kristina, surprised that Darrin had even more gifts for her.

When she opened the gift she discovered it was a delicate sapphire necklace, her birthstone. Her eyes glowed as she looked into her handsome husband’s boyish face.

“Oh, Darrin! It’s gorgeous!”

“I was hoping you’d like it,” he said. “Turn around.”

She did so and he put the necklace around her, and then dropped his hands to her waist and looked deeply into her eyes. At that minute he felt incredibly connected to her.

“I have something for you,” she whispered.

“Huh?”

She got up, went to her overnight bag and took out a small wrapped gift, then sat down beside Darrin and handed it to him.

“You didn’t have to get me anything, Tina,” he said, as they sat across from each other, face to face.

“You give me so many gifts, Darrin. I just wanted to give you one,” she replied, noticing how his bangs flopped over his forehead.

He opened it only to discover it was a very masculine gold necklace. He held it up to admire it. “I see we have similar thoughts when it comes to gifts.”

“Darrin, I know you don’t wear much jewelry – I’ve noticed just your wedding ring and a watch – but I saw this necklace and I could picture it on you and suddenly I wanted it for you. I want people to say his wife gave him that. I know that sounds corny, and you don’t have to wear it if you don’t’ like it…” she rambled.

He was incredibly touched by her gesture. So much so, he wanted to wear it for her. He held it up and she put it on him, tracing the necklace with her fingers.

Spontaneously, he reached down, lifted the nightgown over her head, and kissed her. They collapsed onto the rug before the glowing fire, wrapped in an intimate embrace.

Breathlessly, they parted.

“Tina, the only time I’ll take off your necklace is when I exercise, okay? Just so you know.” He was thrilled to receive such a personal gift from her. She had obviously put a lot of thought into it.

“Te amo, mi amour,” she whispered.

Again, they entwined their bodies together. Darrin nuzzled her neck as he felt her fingers on his shoulders. He went lower, rubbing his cheeks and lips against her swollen, tender breasts.

“Tina, baby, love your body…love your pregnant body,” he whispered, lost in his intoxicating thoughts of love.

Although she wasn’t showing yet, they were both aware of the changes in her body. He nuzzled her neck again as he rubbed the tight skin of her abdomen.

“Tina…”

“Um?”

“Your stomach is wicked hard.”

“You notice everything, Darrin,” she replied.

“Sshhh,” he whispered.

He felt her lips on his neck, her heavy breathing near his ear. His flesh was alive. Gently, he licked the swollen nub of her breast with his tongue as he entwined his legs with hers. Her low moan told him she was delighting in his attention.

He played with her naked body some more, running his hands down along her sides, kissing her stomach, and he could feel the goose bumps on her flesh. Totally excited, he sat up and motioned for her to do the same.

Her eyes followed his every gesture. Making sure the rug was strategically before the fire, he motioned for her to sit facing from him. He spread his legs and reached out, cupping her buttocks in his hands, and gently slid his manhood into her warm, inviting ex. As they connected, both let out a yelp of pleasure.

Gently, Darrin rocked his wife as they exchanged deep, open-mouthed kisses before the romantic fire. He held her close and could feel her hands wrapped around his taunt waist, exciting him. He suddenly felt her tense up and knew his wife’s orgasm was close. He parted from her lips just enough to watch the orgasm flow over her face.

“Darrin!” she cried.

“That’s it, baby. Say my name,” he encouraged, noticing how soft her shoulder-length hair was in the glow of the fire.

“Darrin!”

“Kristina!’ he cried, feeling his own powerful release.

“Uhhh!”

He glided her down on top of his body as he collapsed onto the rug and ran his trembling fingers through her hair. He nuzzled her and they lay together, warm and secure in their love for each other.

“Darrin, darling, I have never been so happy, so in love.”

“Tina,” he started.

“Darrin, I will never stop loving you. Ever,” she said, snuggling her tingling body into his. Entwined, naked, and sexually satisfied, the lovers fell asleep before the romantic fire.

Are Your Dirty Little Secrets by Sime-Gen
{Are Your Dirty Little Secrets} is a page-turner not unlike the books in the Harlequin romance series. The story is about the loves and trials of two racially and economically different families, the Bannings and the Riveras.

The heroine of this story, Kristina, is a smart nad beautiful Latina who faces many struggles. She gave up a child, Melissa, for adoption years ago and now pretens to be her aunt. Melissa has a rare blood disorder, and Kristina battles over whether to tell her the truth.

Her sister-in-law, Sarah, has an affair with Kristina's brother, Luis and doesn't know who the father of her baby is. The vindictive Sarah definitely has more than one axe to grind with her lover's sister. She blackmails Krisitna out of revealing the truth to Melissa.

Darrin, Kristina's loving husband with a mysterious past, is enchanted with Jennifer, the cousin of his dead wife, Andie. When Jennifer is raped and left for dead, Darrin is falsely accused of the crime and arrested. Kristina forgives Darrin for kissing Jennifer, but it might be too late to start over.

Will love and truth prevail in the end? It is worth reading the book to learn the ending of these tense situtations.

Are Your Dirty Little Secrets by Marie Wadsworth
“Are Your Dirty Little Secrets” reviewed by Marie Wadsworth, New Mexican journalist and romance author/writer. 4 ½ stars out of 5

If you’re a blissfully married couple like Kristina and Darrin Banning who has everything – a life of luxury, unconditional love and a baby on the way – then all’s right and perfect in the world. But life doesn’t come tied up in a neat package. Often when you have everything you become complacent. Discontent and challenges arise to test the very fabric of our lives and relationships.

That’s exactly what happens in “Are Your Dirty Little Secrets.” Kristina and Darrin Banning’s values, beliefs, love, and even marriage are tested. Kristina, a strong, independent woman, keeps her promise to find the daughter she gave up for adoption and Darrin is sensitive and supportive about granting his wife’s wishes.

“Are Your Dirty Little Secrets” is the sequel to SG Cardin’s romance novel, “All That Remains.” “Are Your Dirty Little Secrets” stands out on its own. The book has a brief review of what happened previously, so readers aren’t left out of the loop. It’s not really necessary to read the other book, but the review is enough to entice you to read “All That Remains.”

Cardin does an excellent job making her books compliment each other. She pieces her story together well. There are no gaps or holes. The stories just flow smoothly and naturally. Readers are instantly entranced by its spell. Cardin has a knack and style where she makes her books easily comfortable. While you’re reading her, you can kick back, relax and lose yourself for a few hours.

Cardin certainly has quite the saga going. She writes more in a soap opera style. I found this touch enjoyable. Cardin uses that soap opera flavor in the romantic triangle web she develops in “Are Your Dirty Little Secrets.” She easily captures you in the tangled lives her characters lead.

“Are Your Dirty Little Secrets” is much longer than “All That Remains” and Cardin makes it worth your while to read every page. I had a hard time putting down her book. Her characters are likable and her storytelling is engaging and intriguing.

I only have two complaints about this book. One is the title. It is awfully awkward. My second complaint is the ending. Cardin’s ending was pretty strong but it was just too tight. The were a couple of situations I felt happened to easily.

Once again, Cardin has dished out a delightful, pleasurable read in “Are Your Dirty Little Secrets”. Her characters and storylines are like drugs – easy to get addicted to – and readers will definitely find themselves asking for more. I highly recommend reading both of her books and wouldn’t hesitate to add them to my library.
