Maidens Prayer
A maiden’s prayer, spoken on reverent lips
from a bewildered seeking pinning heart
for a lost lover who has gone astray
speaking out loud, I shout to you
calling out my lovelorn agonize pain
can you hear me crying out to the night?
the man once was mine before he took flight
but now it seems he belongs to another
sitting here I weep, as if on predestine cue
whipping my blistered eyes I rise to fate
moving on to love again as I know I must do
for if he chooses to be with you
I know this man never was mine for true
I have heard my sisters in loves mourning
with beseeching expression of this life lesson
felt their pain; never thinking it would be me
as did they, I found out that it matters not who
that if he could do this to me he could to you
