Her heart thumped so heavily it caused a pounding sensation in her ears. Blades of ice laced her spine. He claimed the dead were judging her. He also claimed to be listening to them. Oh, God, but he was more insane than she had at first imagined. She watched him cock his head to one side for a moment or two, then the superficial smile appeared once more.

"They're still voting," Evan said. "There's no decision yet. In the meanwhile, we really should do something about that leg of yours. The removable one. It needs to stay on, permanently. The problem is: what method of permanence do I use?"

Her hands were lying across her lap. She dug her nails into the flesh of her thighs to keep from screaming. She watched as he got to his feet and removed a padlock and a chain from a drawer beside the stove.

"I was pondering the situation in my mind before you came here today." He removed a nail gun and some of the longest nails she'd ever seen. "If I kill you and your body begins, shall we say...fading away, then every time I carry you into my bed, the damned thing will keep falling off and I'll have to make a second trip."

Yet she's haunted by her own demons: the mysterious noises she hears in her apartment at night, and the mysterious glass rose she found on her breakfast table.

Unholy Alliance
"UNHOLY ALLIANCE is a deliciously morbid thriller, filled with more twists and turns than your favorite thrill ride, guaranteed to both enthrall and appall. Set aside a block of time to read it; because once you start, you won't be able to stop till you get to the very last page, breathless and amazed."

Robert E. Gelinas

Unholy Alliance
Imagine yourself living alone in a rather weird apartment building with equally weird characters as neighbors while a madman roams the city, killing people and removing parts of their bodies. His victims seem to be selected at random and the parts he takes seem to have no relationship with each other. August Summers joins forces with police detective Bobby Beckett, the officer in charge of the investigation of the strange killings, after they find they have more than one thing in common. August might become the killer's next victim and Bobby is working to prevent just that.

More than just a mystery, this tale carries with it a mood that matches that of the original Psycho movie, unexpected and unpleasant surprises for the characters, but just that perfect touch of horror to keep the reader turning those pages. Set in New York City, the story is played out mostly in the darker hours while the city sleeps uneasily, not knowing and worrying where the killer will strike next. This is a book you won't want to put down. Enjoy.

A riverting thriller.
I must confess I committed an act of “unholy alliance,” by chewing my nails as I read Dana Reed’s riveting thriller debut. As her psychically wounded heroines battle a freakishly insane killer, Reed limns the homicide detective’s world with the same savvy that earned her a cult following as a horror writer.
