“Whispering Willow Woods”
YOUNG AND OLD
CHILDREN OF ALL AGES…
ALL YOUR FANTASIES
AND YOUR DREAMS…
Once upon a time in a place that time forgot, lived a little girl named Stacey.
Stacey had no parents…but she wasn’t sad.
She knew she would make lots of new friends in this place called Whispering Willow Woods.
Stacey lived in a small cottage that her Father had built many years ago.
The little cottage was at the edge of the woods in a beautiful little meadow, with lots of flowers surrounding it.
Stacey had the bluest eyes, and they sparkled like the stars when she spoke, and golden hair, like the shining sun, but most of all…Stacey had the most angelic voice that anyone has ever heard…anywhere.
In the morning, the forest creatures, and the birds from high above, would go to the edge of the woods to hear Stacey’s angelic voice singing a sweet song.
When Stacey looked out her window each morning, she would see deer, bears, raccoons, rabbits, and birds.
Oh yeah…even field mice.
Every forest animal you could imagine would be looking at her little cottage, waiting to see if she will come out.
Stacey smiled sweetly, and said to herself, “Today I will get to know the animals. Today I’ll make some new friends”.
Stacey opened her little cottage door and stepped outside.
She listened closely.
You see, when all the animals started to speak, it would sound like whispers…that’s why it is called Whispering Willow Woods.
Stacey walked around the side of her little cottage and began watering her flower garden.
Then onto her trees, her lawn, and lastly her vegetable garden.
She filled her bird feeders as well.
You see, Stacey really loved the forest animals and there was something else too.
Stacey had a wonderful gift, she could actually talk to the forest animals in the woods, and they in turn could speak to her as well.
This was a magical time, and the woods were a magical place.
As Stacey went to turn around to go back into her little cottage, she was startled to find a very small doe standing there looking at her.
There stood a doe, all tan with patches of white in the shape of diamonds, and the biggest, blackest eyes.
Stacey thought she was beautiful.
“Well hello there little one”.
The doe looked at Stacey strangely, because she understood what Stacey was saying.
Stacey said, “Would you like to try some of my fresh grass and leaves, they are very sweet and tasty”.
“Yes please”, replied the small tanned doe.
“Mmmm, these are delicious”.
“I’m so glad you like them. What is your name?”
“My Mom calls me Jewel”, replied the small tanned doe.
“Jewel, what a wonderful name”, Stacey smiled.
“Who are you?” asked Jewel.
“My name is Stacey. I live in this little cottage on the edge of Whispering Willow Woods”.
“I have to go”, Jewel said, “My Mom is calling me. Could I come back and visit you later?”
“Of course you may”, said Stacey with a gentle smile, “Anytime”.
“Thank you for the grass and leaves, they were so delicious”.
“Oh you are very welcome Jewel. Now you run along, don’t let your Mom worry…Bye”.
Stacey had made her first friend, she was so happy that she started singing again, and her angelic voice filled the air and could be heard all around.
Jewel found her Mother and Father and told them about Stacey.
“She is very nice Mom, she gave me sweet grass and leaves…you really half to meet her”.
“Well, we will see Jewel”, answered her Father, Buck.
Jewel’s Mother is named Jasmine.
Meanwhile, Stacey was singing and pulling carrots out of her vegetable garden, when she felt as though someone were watching her closely.
When she turned her head slightly she found three somebody’s.
Three very fluffy rabbits.
One BIG one, one smaller one, and one baby one.
Each rabbit wriggled its nose, as rabbits do.
“Well hello there little ones”, all the while Stacey was thinking, this is a very lucky day to make new friends.
The BIGGEST rabbit hopped forward.
“What is your name?” asked Stacey.
“Buster”, grunted the BIGGER rabbit.
“Would you like a fresh carrot?” asked Stacey.
Buster hopped closer still and snatched the carrot and started eating it right away.
Stacey looked past Buster at the other two rabbits.
“Would you two like one as well?”
“Yes please, if you don’t mind to much”, answered the smaller rabbit. Hopping closer she said, “My name is Sasha”.
“Pleased to meet you Sasha, my name is Stacey”.
“I’m very pleased to meet you Stacey”, Sasha chipped.
The baby rabbit hopped right onto Stacey’s lap.
“I’m Conk” he chipped.
“Well hello there, Conk. Would you like this big, juicy carrot?”
“Oh yes, oh yes, oh yes”, and Conk started nibbling it all up.
“MORE”, Buster demanded.
“That’s no way to ask”, Sasha said wriggling her nose and twitching her paws.
Buster thumped his hind leg, thump, thump, and thump.
“Enough of that”, Sasha spoke. “I am very sorry Miss Stacey. Buster is a very grumpy bunny today, he is usually a good bunny boy”.
“That’s ok Sasha”, Stacey said with a smile, “Come…help yourselves, there is plenty to go around”.
Buster, Sasha, and Conk ate until they could eat no more.
“We thank you Miss Stacey” Sasha sighed.
“Oh yes, oh yes”, said Conk.
Buster just thumped.
“You are all welcome, and come anytime you like, we could be good friends”.
“Yes we will, but we must go now, we have to sleep for awhile. Also we must be careful of the hoot owl…Mr. Hooty”.
As Stacey watched them all hop off, she stood and smiled to herself.
“Yes a good day indeed”, she thought, “I made some wonderful friends today. Jewel the doe, and Buster, Sasha and Conk, my little rabbit friends. I wonder what the rest of the day will bring”.
