A tree with fairy tale arms
bent at angles impossibly real
each limb left there bare and bereft
by winter’s chores lays there naked
but for the passing embrace

Professional Reviews

--RAIN PRYOR, “Fried Chicken & Latkes A One Woman Experience”
Awesome words and imagery; I could feel and taste each poem.

--THADDEUS RUTKOWSKI, author of Tetched
In graceful verse, Joy Leftow remembers incidents and situations that are eye-opening, uplifting and sometimes profoundly sad. Leftow takes us back to the times that altered lives, then leads us forward to new understanding.

--JONATHAN LEAF, arts & entertainment editor, New York Press
I have long been an advocate of traditional poetry featuring rhyme and meter. Ms. Leftow's poetry is not this. It is, however, direct and heartfelt. Ms Leftow speaks of real pain and sorrow. Her essay on "Menopause" is frank and without cant. I am grateful for it.

Poetry is a needed voice in society. Joy adds a powerful voice in a time where strong and powerful voices are needed to make society think about things. I am proud to call Joy my sister and friend in the struggle for social Justice.
