Poems that touch the heart and soul authored by Addie W. Williams and edited and published by her daughter Katie Fairchild. Many people here at Authors Den have suggested that I go ahead and try to publish her works. I have finally made the final step, even if it is self published. And those that know her poems will find a treasure in this little book. She would be so proud.

Book Of Poetry

I have brought to you a book.
It is poetry.
It's derived from life and living
And yearning and hoping and dying.
Take it or decline to
If you choose -
It has bled me dry
My own design.
Depending upon you
Your need
Or pleasure of necessity
There may be here
For you
Both treasure or censure
Your only perquisites
Are guts and romanticism,
A strange schism
To require
But here it is
For your consideration
For your scorn
Or agreement
Or acknowledgement
Of true and false
Or bewilderment.

.April 14, 1982 by Addie W. Williams

In this wonderful little poetry book by author Addie W. Williams are poems that touch the heart and soul. And will be a treasure book you will always want to keep and share.

Only my poetry
May be my salvation
But who
Will save my poetry?

.Jan. 1, 1983 by Addie W. Williams

Editors Note:
My mother dearly loved the English language, and writing was her passion, which is so clear in this small book of 50 poems. Her dream was to one day have her poems published, but that dream never came true before she died. During her life span, she wrote over 3,000 poems, as well as numerous short stories and articles, and kept a journal since 1982. When ever she thought of a poem, or a thought, it did not matter where she was, she would write it down. I have poems of hers that she wrote on napkins. Not long before her death, my husband and I collected all her poetry, journals and other writings. They barely fit into a tall black file cabinet. And after she died, I promised myself that I would record all her writings on computer, which will be a life time project. And my husband and I promised her before she died, that we would publish (or try to) some of her poetry.

Since her death, I have recorded over 500 poems to computer, as well as many journal entries. And I have also spent a great deal of time and effort and research on getting her poems published. But this takes a great deal of time, especially if published by a well know publisher,  which I still intend to try and do with some of her other works. But, lately, with the world changing so fast, and so many devastating things happening to the world, I realize that anything can happen at anytime, and therefore decided to self publish her first book of poetry, as I never know what tomorrow will bring. At least by self publishing this first book, I can say that I followed through with my promise to her.

To the readers, I hope you enjoy this book. She would have been so please knowing others were reading and enjoying her works. My intentions are to have many more to follow.

Reader Reviews for "Residue Of Day"

Reviewed by Sandie Angel 9/30/2005
Hi Katie:

It's nice that you do this for your mother. She must be so happy now, and is so proud of you and Jim now.

Hope you'll get lots of sales. You might want to send a little message to all your friends who have expressed interests in your mother's work, including her students in her school to come to authorsden here to look at this.

Another way is to write in the blog page and direct visitors to this ad page here. That is what I had done with mine.

Thank you for inviting me to this page!
