Forgiving Mist
After it's over
forgetting is impossible
as gnawing demons
hang around
like bad relatives
who come
and stay too long
the fog of regret
stays thick
with resentment
born of emptiness
In deep remorse
a thinning haze
may enter
upon wings of hope
cultivating the magic
of unearned trust
while a broken heart
heals enough
to share itself
in the forgiving mist
of time
