Excerpted from The Introduction
"Season of Grandeur"
Growing weary of heat and thunder/faulting summer before it's through/I yearn to savor the restful rustle of autumn/the season of grandeur/I thrill to the finale...
Under the cobalt arch of heaven/ everywhere deeper color, every horizon fiery/the blaze of gold before the gray/the banquet, the fullness, the density--/nature in maturity.
After the long hot days of growing/every living thing pregnqant with beauty/and love fully ripened cresting in glory/before the fading and slipping into the/story of all that's been.
From Section One
Love is a spiritual melody,
the musical score for humanity,
the earthly leaven.
Scenting every hour
like a lovely rose,
it sings to the soul.
And when sung in full bloom.
the power of heaven.
How Glorious Autumn Came To Be
"When the love of my life was taken, unexpectedly, shock and depression taking their toll, delving deeper into the spiritual, I concentrated on poetry... And upon resuming teaching, began volunteering at retirement resorts and senior centers...
These students, ripened by life, and "opened" by poetry, would tell me their love stories and personal philosophies.
Inundated with true accounts of love and wisdom, gained and lost, I was inspired to share them with others.
The Language of Life

-- The Senior Connection
Poetry Written with the wisdom of age and maturity, with a deep spiritual connection so obvious in every verse...This is not poetry of young love, but a long, lasting deeper love that only comes with years of togetherness and knowing.
Reflecting the ageing process, and all the changes it brings:
"Though time takes its tolls,
aging me constantly,
when I add up my life
and see the whole picture ..."
The painful loss of a loved one:
"When angels come to take
a loved on to the higher
level of existence, suddenly
here is a wintery world..."
Or the glory of mature love:
"Love that survives
every day mundanity,
that year upon year
requires nurturing ..."
Delma Luben, honorary member of the International Society of poets for peace... has published thousands of poems, plus five collections. She is also, contributing editor, Writers world Magazine, and author of "The Writing World."

|That was beautiful.
Having been married to the same woman for 36 years I can appreciate what you are saying. The fact that I am soon to be 61 helps, too.
God has been good to me through the joys and the heartbreaks.
