Sarah Simpson-Parker is a widow at the age of thirty. Two years later, after mourning her husband for a year she is ready to start dating again. She and her husband had both been virgins when they married. Although their sex life was enjoyable, it was not great. Sarah is looking for someone who will give her the orgasms that she has read about in the romance novels. No one has caught her attention until she meets Phillip Townsend in a grocery store. She almost says no when he asks her out, but the attraction between them is strong enough that she says yes.

Phillip Townsend has had a number of Dominant/submissive relationships but none had ever been permanent. He wants very much to find a submissive that will make a life long commitment. After several dates he is sure that Sarah may be the woman that he is looking for. Taking a chance he asks Sarah home. He explains a little of what he wants from her and she agrees. As Phillip takes Sarah step by step down the path to sexual freedom and submission, they explore limits of trust and passion that only true soul mates ever really experience.

Ms. Hunter has done a wonderful job of showing both sides of this relationship. We see Sarah’s insecurities, inhibitions, fears and the need to experience truly mind blowing climaxes, and Phillips need to be dominant, the raw animal lust that he keeps so tightly controlled and the vulnerable side that has been hurt in the past. Get out the fire extinguisher, ice water, toys and turn the air conditioner on low because this book will make you sweat with desire. These two burn up the pages with their sex play and bondage games. But this story isn’t just about lust and bondage, it is about to people who come to love each other. It shows how a true lifestyle BDSM relationship is a power exchange between partners. Ms. Hunter also shows that there must be respect, compassion, and communication for this type of relationship to grow and flourish. I hope that Ms. Hunter will write other stories along these lines.
SECRET SUBMISSION is a one of kind book. It explores the fundamentals of a true lifestyle BDSM relationship, without the humiliation and indignities that so many of this genre comprises. Ms. Hunters excellent characterization, powerful and passionate love scenes, and her ability to provide an intimate look at two people searching for a lasting, loving relationship are a few of the reasons that I felt this book deserved the Gold Star Award.
