Wiggling in her seat Marie blurts out, "Ma, I don't think I can eat another bite. I'm so excited about us leaving...you are serious...oooo...isn't that exciting!" She giggles and wiggles around more. Her deep brown eyes sparkle with joy as her dark hair swishes around.
"Oh stop it will you!" Katie bluts out in anger. "How can you possibly enjoy leaving our home... and for what? Do we even know? Ma...this is home." Katie hits her hand on her leg saying, "I don't want to leave!"
"Katie, you never did like change." Emma states with a grin on her face as she butters some of Ruth's baked bread.
Then Anne blurts out, "And you don't even like to change your clothes...you love those old rags you wear."
Sternly Katie answers, "They are not rags! Just because some are torn...I work best in them anyways." Katie then stands tall and proud.
Greta says, "Girls, enough...and Anne is right. You have other clothes to wear...give those old ones their proper rest..."
Anne laughing says, "Yes...in the cow pile!" She almost could not finish the sentence she was laughing so hard and Katie got real angry.
"I don't think that is nice at all!" Katie flings a handful of potatoes at Anne but she moves and Emma gets it square in the face. Emma yells, "Now what the...why you little.." A fling of beans goes at Katie who ducks and Ruth gets a second mouthful...spitting and swallowing Ruth finally is able to speak and says, "I have not said anything, just enjoying dinner and here take that..." Potatoes again fly through the air and the next thing you know they are all flinging food until Ma gets hit by potatoes, beans and applesauce...everyone freezes while Ma wipes her face. Food is dripping off all of them...
