In spite of the ever-looming threat of capture, a brave band of evangelists join forces to preach the Gospel to a lost and hostile world. John Rex, one of the leaders of this underground network, is the focus of HEdge's search-and-destroy mission.
Mercilessly hunting down his prey, Roderick Banchard is just as devoted to his evil campaign as the Christians are to their evangelistic cause. Disaster, cleverly contrived by Banchard and his HEdge soldiers, strike the Christians at every turn. Good and evil clash, and Rex's mission is nearly crushed as he is forced into making a seemingly hopeless choice.
With everything at stake, the world watches as one man, forced to choose between two loves, is thrust center-stage in a global confrontation. Ultimately, the inhabitants of Earth are issued a warning they must heed before it's too late.
Prologue:
Approaching the eve of the third millennium, there was great anticipation for the future of mankind. Optimism flourished, humanity teetered on the edge of the old order, ready to explode into the new.
Slowly, however, the darker side of human nature once again manifested itself. The quest for power became paramount to all else; teritorial politics and class battles became the cry of the day. Dreams of the perfect world began to fade.
These struggles saw many groups fall from the political landscape. As with the early Church, those professing a Christian faith became outcasts. Under heavy persecution, they were forced to practice their faith in secret underground enclaves. Their persecutors were determined to finish the Christian genocide that had begun over two thousand years ago.
Humanity's Edge (HEdge) is the reigning world government. Ten consortium members representing every sector of the globe make up the HEdge Council, the supreme authority of the land. Forty Sector Chiefs were tendered appointments to oversee the world's finances; appointments only the HEdge Council could terminate.
Living under the shadows of this godless regime, Christians risk their lives daily as they struggle to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. And as the war rages, God's people don't falter, but instead rise to the occasion in a mighy way.
So the struggle continues; the evils of the world seducing the souls of the many, while God's remnant battles against all odds to bring salvation to a lost and dying world.

Shades of Future to Come
The KitchenSink Journal Review, June 5, 2002.
Jeff Ovall's "Chronicles of the HEdge" is a gripping story of the possible destiny of mankind if he continues to pursue the present course of philosophy and world view. However, there is a shade of truth through this whole novel that each man and woman must answer for themselves here in the real world. The book reads much like the LEFT BEHIND series and has a few unsuspected twists as the book reaches it breathtaking climax.
The Otherworlds Sci-Fi / Connection
Jeff Ovall paints a convincing story of future possibilities. A world dominated by man's need to serve self and to control the masses into an ideology from the very Pit itself. CHRONICLES OF THE HEDGE is a gripping story of hope in the middle of darkness and the struggle of men and women brave enough to challenge a world gone mad. The darker the world gets, the greater the Light will shine in that darkness.

| The excerpt you poseted at AD was compelling. I don't if I might be able to finish reading your story, but it was compelling, a frightening visiojn of an out-of-control world. |
