Poet's Progeny

Why was Robert Burns' songs, poems and music loved by all? Russians honour Burns and he was the talk of the Enlightenment of Europe. He spoke for the orindary man to those in authority. Clarity and richly crafted words flowed from his pen. This poet sits shoulder to shoulder with Shakespeare.

With the praises of Beethoven, Mendelsohn, Wordsworth and Tennyson, the Scottish Bard lived till only 37 years of age. Yet in this biography of his life and those who followed, the mark was set. Poet's Progeny is a unique book which Scots throughout the world will treasure on their book shelves.

Poet's Progeny

All can share in Robert Burns’ work, many recite his favourite verses or songs. Others understand the hardships of his times and the radical politics around him. Many are moved to visit his grave at the Mausoleum at St Michael’s Church in Dumfries or visit the Brow Well where he sought healing. Others stroll the magnificent walks on the river Nith riverbanks that truly inspired the Bard to pen Tam o’ Shanter and collect, craft and mend over 300 songs. But in one thing their experiences will fall short.

His genius was his alone.

This is a rare work.

Then let us pray that come it may

As come it will for a’ that

That Sense and Worth through all the Earth

Shall bear the gree an a’ that

For a’ that an a’ that

It’s comin’ yet for a’ that

That man to man the world o’er

Shall brithers be for a’ that.

Professional Reviews
Poet's Progeny
A rare example of hand written notes of the Bard passed down through five generations to the Author's son who complied the book following his father's death. The author lives in Dumfries where Burns is buried in a Mausoleum. Poet's Progeny shows character and takes the reader through the generations keeping pace with the changes - but not the essence of The Bard. This is a book which should be proudly seen on family shelves whether Scots in exile or Muslims seeking peace.

From the cover view, and the excerpt, I think this is simply heart warming and deeply touching. A pure work of art indeed. thanks for sharing!
