More Than Prophecy
According to ancient prophecy, a woman would come from Earth to bear a child who would end the warring between the Ramekah and Andreas clans that has plagued the hold folk of Zandar for hundreds of years. On the tail of a magical zephyr, Cheyenne, a young Native American woman, is swept through the doorway of an interplanetary portal and whisked away from Earth in a dazing blur of motion. She’s deposited, alone and half-naked, in a valley between the grassy knolls of the Rhian Mountains and the dreaded Goetic forest, just inside the boundaries of Andreas Territory.
As she scanned the unconcerned herd, her gaze fell to another group of creatures milling a few yards away, and she saw him. He was magnificent, large and strong, with a suffocating air of unquestionable authority. Her eyes froze on his tall, lean form, his arresting good looks totally capturing her attention. He had a ruggedness and vital power that instantly attracted her, awakening a foreign, but pleasant, spark of interest deep within.
It’s there that Lord Darian Andreas, ruler of the mighty Andreas Clan and master of the powerful Andreas Territory, finds her. Although Darian is a just man who exercises kindness and incorporates mercy into his method of rule—which, in the barbaric world of Zandar, are rare qualities for a man—he’s also used to getting what he wants, one way or another. And from the moment Darian lays eyes on the dark skinned beauty, he knows she’s meant to be his. If the Gods are willing, he’ll make it so.
His long, sturdy, legs were spread wide in an unwavering stance, emphasizing the strength in his thighs and slimness of his hips. Broad shoulders were a mile wide and solid like molded bronze. A thick mane of golden blond hair fell about his chin in a disheveled, but pleasing, array of untamed splendor. He stood as if he prided himself on his captivating appearance and obvious insurmountable virility—like a Viking warrior ready to conquer all.
As though sensing her presence, the man turned to face her. Suddenly, the winds of time ceased to blow and everything around her stood still. Cheyenne’s heart pounded violently in her chest, making her teeth chatter with a mixture of fear and excitement.
He was unlike anything she’d ever seen before. Daunting, terrifying, yet fascinating, enthralling. A voice of warning whispered in her head and she stumbled back a step.
Vaguely registering the others, Cheyenne blinked in stunned surprise. He wasn’t alone. Nine other warriors hovered around him like faithful servants protecting their king.
Although none were as intimidating as he, all were seemingly barbaric and just as formidable. And every one had stopped what he was doing to stare in her direction.
Full-fledged panic nearly knocked Cheyenne off her feet when her eyes met and locked with his. She gasped as a shiver of terror wracked her frame. One of the men was pointing her way, yelling. But she paid him no heed; her attention was focused on the one who stood within their midst like a revered Greek God.
Never had someone’s stare penetrated her core, or their presence command her instant and complete attention. She could feel him reaching out to her, grasping her essence and claiming her spirit. Her heart flittered in her chest like a nervous butterfly, frantically trying to escape an invisible prison.
An innate feeling screamed that her destiny entwined with his. But she stubbornly denied it, refusing to believe such a farcical idea. A cry of alarm died in her throat as he slowly unsheathed his sword and took a threatening step toward the knoll. Not knowing which was more in danger, her life or her soul, Cheyenne turned and fled.
Paranormal Romance Reviews
Pulling into her parking space at home after a long day's work, Cheyenne has the feeling her roommate won't be there. Oh well, at least she has her cat for company. Of course, with the storm brewing, the cat will probably hide like always. When she gets out of her car, the wind really picks up and getting across the parking lot to the door suddenly seems an impossible task.
The wind becomes so strong, it knocks Cheyenne to her knees. While she's down on all fours attempting to stand up, the sky turns weird colors and looks like it's folding in on itself. The next thing she knows, this weird occurrence picks her up and she ends up facedown in the middle of a field! Even her clothes were replaced with a tiny little shift- like thing which shows more than it hides.
Finding a good sized lump on her head, Cheyenne decides she needs to figure out where she is. On one side of her is a forest, the other side is a mountain. Since she's climbed mountains before, she decided it would be the lesser of two evils and she might be able to see something from the top. When she finally makes it to the top, she looks out and sees a group of men in the distance. One of them in particular stands out. In her eyes, he appears as a Greek god. Tall, strong and handsome. When the men start moving in her direction, Cheyenne immediately starts running. This time, her goal is to reach the forest. Well, we all know the outcome of this race and when the 'god' finally catches Cheyenne, she's full of scratches. Even though he talks funny, Cheyenne can understand every word he says. The Greek god, or Darian, decides to take Cheyenne with them. He wants her for his own and plans on eventually having her.
They eventually arrive at their destination, a whorehouse. The owner takes Cheyenne up to a room so she can get cleaned up and change her clothes. As she's getting ready to get in the tub, the owner notices a mark on Cheyenne's bottom. The mark is a tattoo from a drawing Cheyenne had done years ago, in her rebellious phase. The owner can't believe this! It turns out the tattoo is the mark of the Prophecy! Unfortunately, the owner isn't the only that sees the tattoo. There is another girl, and she plans on using the information to her advantage. And so, the other girl does. She tells Darian's brother, Chris, commonly known as Lord Blood for a reason, of the mark.
Now Chris has the chance to once again to take a woman away from his brother and plans to do so that very evening while everyone is asleep.
Exactly what is the Prophecy everyone is talking about? What is this place Cheyenne landed in? Will she be able to escape from Chris' evil clutches and return to the man she loves, Darian? Even though Darian wants her, will he love her?
MORE THAN PROPHECY is a thrilling ride from the very first page right up to the surprising ending! Shannon Leigh has done a wonderful job of bringing her characters to life in this exciting story. The men are all big, bad warriors and the world reminded me of medieval Scotland. The hierarchy is very similar to that time period with Liege- lords and Lords and so on. A time when might was right. Under the prophecy, this is, at heart, a very tender romance. We have Darian, a man, who at one point in time, was engaged to be married to the woman he loved. When it was discovered this woman was sleeping with his brother, he banished the both of them and swore he would never fall in love again. Then we have Chris, Darian's brother, who will stop at nothing in his attempts to steal Cheyenne away from Darian. Then we have Cheyenne, taken from her own world and dropped in this one so very different from her own, feeling like a pawn because of this prophecy. Will any man ever love her and want her for herself, and not because of some prophecy? And of course, she has no idea what this prophecy is all about. This is a wonderful story I highly recommend reading!
Cheyenne just wants to go home and spend the evening with her cat. But before she can get there a very unusual wind seems to attack her and with a flash of light and color she passes out. Cheyenne wakes up in the middle of nowhere and dressed in a short gown she’s never seen before. While looking for help, she comes across a group of very big, intimidating men. Their leader is the biggest and most intimidating.
The leader is Lord Darian Andreas and this is the land of Zandar. He is investigating a strange light when he sees Cheyenne and gives chase. Darian finally catches her and for some reason, they can understand each other. Darian wants answers and as he gets them, he thinks about the prophecy. He doesn’t believe that she is part of that prophecy until he sees her tattoo. How can she have the same mark as the old prophecy book?
While Darian is wrestling with his feelings for Cheyenne (and Cheyenne is examining her own), news of her existence is spread to all the noblemen in Zandar. Each man wants her for his bride so he can father the hero that will bring all the kingdoms together. Through a series of challenges, Cheyenne chooses the suitor who is best suited and most desired to father her child.
Shannon Leigh has written a fantasy that sweeps you away. More Than Prophecy takes you away from everyday life and plops you right in the middle of a land of adventure and desire. Ms Leigh is a wonderful storyteller and has given us another retreat when all we want to do is get away from it all.
Coffeetime Romance Reviews
Cheyenne arrives at her home and suddenly finds herself in the midst of a strange storm
and swept through a magical portal. Deposited half-naked near a forest on a strange
world Cheyenne is disoriented and frightened. Cheyenne sees Lord Darian and his men
on a journey to a neighboring town and when their eyes meet, an instant attraction
develops between them. Cheyenne flees but is soon captured by Darian.
Darian is sexually attracted to Cheyenne; however, he does not want to accept the fact
that all evidence points to Cheyenne being the woman spoken of in an ancient prophecy.
A prophecy that states a woman will come from Earth to bear a child who will end the
warring between the Ramekah and Andreas clans and bring peace to their planet. If
Cheynne is that women in the prophecy, Darian will not be able to claim Cheyenne for
himself. Following the terms of the prophecy, would open the quest for Cheyenne and
the chance to father her child to any high born male on his planet including Lord
Ramekah and his evil brother Chris; but to not reveal the existence of Cheyenne to the
other nobles of the planet would be considered treason.
Ms. Leigh starts with a bang and keeps the thrills coming to culminate with a climatic
finish that was completely satisfying. Ms. Leigh is a superb storyteller and the story kept
me guessing on how the couple would overcome the obstacles to their relationship. I
found myself quickly immersed in the story of the brave and feisty Cheyenne and
delectable Darian and cheering for a happy ending for the couple. Darian is irresistible.
Cheyenne is an intriguing multi faceted heroine who the reader can identify with and
cheer for. She wants Darian to love her and not to be an object that is wanted only
because of a prophecy. The romance between the couple is endearing. The story also
has two secondary characters Gavin and Lord Ramekah who I hope we will see in future
stories from Ms. Leigh. This story is definitely among my favorites and will be one I will
look forward to reading again.
