Butterflies and Mommies
I saw my mom hold a butterfly;
I don’t remember when or reason why.
As she sat in her garden so sweet;
I heard her voice; as I lay at her feet.
A song so gentle she began to sing;
To the butterfly that had landed on her ring.
Words of love and children’s play;
Mom… sang to the butterfly upon this day.
And as the years so quickly passed;
I learned of Mom’s secret …at last.
She was sending a message up above;
On the wings of the butterfly: a message of love.
I walked in Mom’s garden and to my surprise;
I saw the beauty of a million butterflies.
And as I listened… I thought I heard;
Wings of butterflies; singing Mom’s word.
It was only a dream, but I know in my heart,
I’ll hear again a sweet song…never to part.
I sat in Mom’s garden remembering a child’s play;
I… sang to the butterfly… upon this day.

Devoted companion in the wings of a dove;
Memories so sweet I now often think of.
You were so gentle, loving and kind;
Forever you’ll be in my heart and mind.
