This expanded edition is a collection of over 150 recipes selected for apple lovers everywhere. Everybody's favorite apple pie recipes are included, as are recipes for Apple Studel, Apple Breads and Salads, Fresh Fruit Pizza, and much, much more.
Apple recipes from the following categories are included:
beverages, appetizers, accompaniments, salads, breads, main dishes, cakes, pies and pastry, cookies, desserts, and preserves. There are also sections on apple varieties, an apple guide, and a checklist for knowing how many apples to buy.
Following is a recipe from the Desserts section:
Favorite Apple Betty
4 cups cooking apples, peeled and sliced
1/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
3/4 cup hot water
Combine apples, sugar, cinnamon, and water. Simmer 8-10 minutes or until tender. Pour into un-greased 9-inch pie pan.
Sprinkle the following crumb topping over the apples:
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup butter
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
Blend brown sugar and butter. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Mixture will be crumbly. Sprinkle over apples.
Bake at 350 degrees fro 25-30 minutes. Serve warm or cold.
Yield: 6 servings
Having enjoyed apples my whole life, I am pleased to offer this second edition of my apple recipes.
