Love Letters to Myself

Newly rich and always lonely, a gay man is "saved" as he follows the trouble caused by Cleo LaSalle, a gorgeous manipulator with a taste for greed and a fervent desire to maintain the good life. He narrates the destruction she leaves behind, as she takes him along for the ride.
Cleo is relentless in getting what she wants and has no objections to using her sex to keep those she deems necessary under her thumb.
From glittering parties to old-world money, "Love Letters to Myself" takes readers down the well-beaten path towards everyones' answered prayers. And in the words of St. Teresa of Avila, "More tears are shed over answered prayers, than unanswered ones."

Excerpt

"The miniature downtown world that comprises the Arts & Leisure section of Manhattan was encapsulated in that one restaurant...How much of the future of contemporary culture was being plotted, one could not say."

"Her existence conjures up an image that can only be found on paper, a rotogravure, sepia-tinted and fading into starlight. Carolina seems almost unreal, ethereal. A fantastic wish granted by a romantic dijimini."

Reader Reviews for "Love Letters to Myself"

Reviewed by Anthony Ericsson 2/7/2001
The go-go eighties are alive and living in New York City with Blair Schulmans' "Love Letters to Myself."

Very funny and well-conceived, this book takes readers on the over-indulgent journeys of Cleo LaSalle and her best friend, the mysterious gay Narrator who tells us this tale from his perspective as a privileged onlooker. He frequently joins in Cleos' antics but really wishes to watch her fall from grace all by herself.

This book is meant to be fun and is a great read. The cast of characters roaming these pages are colorful and mischievous with the ego of the serious social climber.

Do not miss this book...it is hilarious!
