THE LESSER EVIL IS COMING THIS FALL. BLURB for The Lesser Evil Vilicia gets her wish to serve as a diplomat t the neighboring colony even if it means spending time with the endlessly irritating Sky Turan. Sky thinks he can never trust Vilicia, but as she helps him through crisis after crisis, his heart starts to believe what his body had been telling him since he first saw her. She’s one hell of a woman. But at the first test of Sky’s new love and trust, her fails Vilicia. The resulting horrific events will either destroy their love or meld it into something stronger than the mountains.
“So the Deomo approved the ambassador program?” Sky asked.
Just frowned. “We decided on a limited trial at first. Only one of our warriors will stay here for now.”
“Only one?” Sky asked as they started walking toward the training grounds. A number of people going about their daily routines stopped and stared at the entourage. Despite the recent improvements in the relations between Solonia and the Realm, the sight of the mountain citizens was still rare enough to draw curious stares.
“I advised her to send none,” Just said.
“Fortunately, we don’t let him make all our decisions”, Vilicia said. She walked on Just’s right side while Sky flanked him on the left.
“Not yet,” Just said with a smile.
Sky glared at Vilicia over Just’s head. He couldn’t understand why Just interacted as he did with his kidnappers.
“Why were you against it, Just?” Sky asked after the other Realm officers bid farewell so they might return to their duties. “You have six of our men serving with you in Solonia already.”
“I can keep an eye on them there.”
“He does, too,” Vilicia butted in. “The poor boys quake in their boots whenever he walks by. They’re afraid to talk to any of us.”
“I asked Just, if you don’t mind,” Sky snapped at her.
Just stopped and looked from Sky to Vilicia. “You two should make your peace. You’ll be working together for the next four months.”
Sky tried to speak, but couldn’t manage any words.
Just slapped him on the back and continued on, calling back over his shoulder. “Hope you have a nice place for her to stay. She’s not rooming in with the regulars.”
Sky stood frozen to the spot. Vilicia continued walking with Just. She turned and barred her teeth at Sky in a way some people might have mistaken for a smile. He knew better.
